LOL if so, SNOW WHITE TOTALLY FAILS.
Giselle's my favorite Disney Princess. She's so hilarious and over-the-top. Plus she has a personality...unlike Snow....and many of the other princesses.
.........and Snow White is butt-ugly but Giselle is VERY pretty. :p
Hey, it's the "mori no otomodachi!!
i hate to be nit picky, but is giselle technically a princess? i know she was supposed to marry a prince, which would have made her a princess (or, i guess, queen), but was she a princess all on her own, before edward?
don't get me wrong, i still love the character.. i just also looove idina menzel (nancy), and so i like to think of her as a disney princess, since she marries prince edward at the end
Erm well...TECHNICALLY she's not since she confirmed that with Morgan...but the way I see it, she's a total princess who just wasn't born into royalty. XD
Hey, it's the "mori no otomodachi!!
I think Amy Adams is quite beautiful and quite princessy
http://www.amyadams.net/index.php
^Agreed. XD I mean, I'm a girl and even I think she's beautiful and charming in Giselle's role. XD
Hey, it's the "mori no otomodachi!!
Snow White is adorable!! How is she ugly???

Her face and her hair. o_o Of all the princesses, she's the least attractive.
Hey, it's the "mori no otomodachi!!
Her face is one of the sweetest faces I've ever seen! She's got old-fashioned beauty and I love her short black hair! She's absolutely adorable to me!
I'm so sick of people saying she's ugly and has no personality.
DX,CM Punk,Edge,Kane,Drew McIntyre,Sheamus,Jeff Hardy

I highly dislike short black hair on girls. XD
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.....but it's true she has no personality.
Hey, it's the "mori no otomodachi!!
True beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
How does she not have a personality?
DX,CM Punk,Edge,Kane,Drew McIntyre,Sheamus,Jeff Hardy
Team Volturi
She's like a cardboard cut-out. : / A Mary-Sue. Does she show any emotions besides happy and frightened?
Hey, it's the "mori no otomodachi!!
And Giselle isn't? Giselle was a lame obnoxious ripoff of the other girls. At least Snow White had her own. What's wrong with being a happy person?
You prefer emos?
4 for you Glen Coco! You go Glen Coco!
Funny you should say that, because Giselle doesn't show any emotion besides happiness. Even Robert pointed that out when he asked Giselle if she's always happy. The one time she almost got mad, she quickly psyched herself back into her usual cheerful mood lol. Giselle is over-the-top and has a cookie cutter personality, but that's done on purpose because she's supposed to represent all fairy tale princesses while parodying them at the same time. To be fair, Giselle did have more character development than the Disney princesses. She showed strength and chose the man and lifestyle she wanted in the end rather than settling for what fairy tales told her she should want. She still didn't show any emotion besides cheerfulness, though lol. Still, I liked the way the character was written. It was cute and amusing.
shareEven Elizabeth Taylor?
http://bios.weddingbee.com/pics/38672/Elizabeth-taylor.jpg
It's the voice. My mom asked me if it was digitally altered. And as far as personality, fairy tales were written during a much different socio-economic client, but how many heroines take a step back and say, "Wait, why do I have to marry a prince?"
shareLOL NO SHE DON'T
Giselle is possibly the most obnoxious princess, except for maybe Ariel, and easily the plainest. She doesn't even have her own personality. Just a mix of a bunch of other princesses'. Lame.
Snow White was gorgeous. Not everyone needs to have a generic cookie-cutter face and dyed hair and lots of makeup to be pretty, Actually quite the opposite. Why pick on her anyway?
4 for you Glen Coco! You go Glen Coco!
[deleted]
Don't you think Elizabeth Taylor looks like Snow White?
http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/084/b/f/snow_white_by_razhbi-d3 ch5nk.jpg
Yes. But Hollywood prefers its freshly made batches of generic faces and obnoxious actors over unique, real beauty and talent.
4 for you Glen Coco! You go Glen Coco!
Something that kind of ruined the movie for me was the actress that plays giselle, i found her acting over the top and whole, too fabricated and artificial... Now prince edward was awesome, that guy was born to play as a prince.

Haven't seen Snow White for ages now, i thought Giselle kind of annoying and it felt like the actress was acting and over whole trying way too much, it didn't feel right like with Edward.
I also think Amy didn't quite depth Giselle’s character, it made her look a little shallow, without a pure innocence like what happens with Belle or Ariel, I felt it contrived like as if she was acting the whole thing.

Thanks for the extensive work you put in your last post. Let me also try to elaborate my answer. First of all, Amy’s physical appearance throughout most of the movie is awe inspiring, she’s everything every princesses ever crafted by Disney transposition to the real should look like, she’s stunningly beautiful and I believe she’s a really good choice. Her face and expressions ally things that I consider to be crucial to a Disney’s princess, beauty and charisma.
About what Amy’s shows in the whole movie, in my humble opinion, I feel some of her acting leave me feeling uneasy, that happened in the beginning and perhaps got better with the progression of the movie. Still I think Edward’s acting to feel really believable, I believe a Disney’s prince would just behave like he did in the movie. I really enjoyed him throughout the movie.
Maybe my buff, my real problem with her is that… I really enjoy some Disney princesses, the purity, innocence and magical beauty they symbolize, to transpose that to a flesh and bone living person is to shatter the whole “dreams come true” because, in real life, dreams don’t come true (that often) and there is no such thing as princesses and princes. I know the movie is all about this subject. Still, I wanted so badly to just fall for her character that the standard was way to high… therefore I thought her to be a good choice but I also thought her to be annoying, over whole I give her a 6.5/10 for her performance.
Ps: at the end of the movie, when Giselle’s and the kid go shopping, in the end she looks just like a average real person, I mean, she was perfect just the way she was in the beginning why spoil it by making her look like anyone? Of course Nancy went through the opposite direction, but I didn’t really empathize with her.
Anyway to wrap this up, Enchanted is not a bad movie, it has Edward in it, Robert was pretty numb as a romantic companion and the story could be better, even though I found the cartoon real person conversion really interesting. Beauty and the Beast merely smokes this. Belle is the ultimate princess for me.
"We can't stop here. This is bat country"
It wasn't "extensive work." I just went to RottenTomatoes and took a line out of a bunch of reviews. Virtually every review gave glowing remarks to Adam's performance; it wasn't hard to find them at all.
As for your comment about when Giselle and Morgan go shopping and she looks like "an average person", that's exactly what was supposed to happen. There's a story arc, and an emotional arc where the character goes from "unreal princess" to "real person", and where the fairy tale world is left behind. Track forward to the ball, where she introduces "her Prince". She winces, now knowing how odd that is. Earlier in the movie she wouldn't have done that. A few moments later we see "true love" as they're dancing, rather than the "fairy tale love" we saw at the beginning of the movie with her and Edward.
(In one interview Amy talked about that, and how hard it was to keep the right center on the character, since the movie was shot out-of-order. In fact, the first day of shooting was the bathroom scene, where Robert walks in on her in the shower. "Am I a real person yet? No, that comes later.")
Want another? The musical arc goes from fairy-land like "Someday My Prince Will Come" and "Whistle While You Work" ("True Love's Kiss and "Happy Working Song") to big Broadway "That's How You Know", to the soft-pop "So Close" and finally closes with a country rock power-ballad with Carrie Underwood. We are carried from "old Disney" music to "contemporary world." See?
When you say you "enjoy some Disney princesses", which ones are you referring to? Are any of them "real" people? Or are they all cartoons? Because it's easy to be "idealized" when there's no human being attached. Likewise for Superman, or for Prince Charming for that matter.
You gave her a 6.5. I thought she was close to a 10. So did most others, including the majority of reviews of the film. Amy didn't get nominated for a lot of awards for this role, but then Disney heroines never do. Still, it was the role that propelled her into "A" list status (well, that and the Oscar nom for "Junebug") and out of near obscurity.
You liked Beauty and the Beast? OK, me too. Beauty and the Beast was good, but it was a cartoon. You can't compare the two any more than you can compare Mickey Mouse and Charlie Chaplin.
Generic you mean?
No, the cartoon girls are meant to look unique and cute, as they all are. I couldn't spot Amy in a crowd, she looks so much like anyone with those simple features. She was also way too old to be playing such a young hyperactive princess type.
http://www.formspring.me/LaGamine
Lobouivante, I liked a lot of things about the movie, but the one thing I felt was missing was an aura of genuine purity and innocence from the princess. I don't feel the actress was able to capture that part of it in a way that made it believable to me.
I didn't have a problem with the rest of the actress's performance. I think they made the character over-the-top intentionally because she was not only representing but also parodying other fairy tale princesses. I found the prince over-the-top, too, and that was also done intentionally. I just feel that the purity and innocence of the princess should have been portrayed in a more believable way, because that is the essence of the character.
Ah, replying to a two year old post and feeling a Disney guy again. :)
Yes, I believe innocence and purity lacked, even in the beginning when she just looks like a really naive and dreamy princess. I wish they could take the time to make her feel more like a Disney princess without feeling yucky and unbelievable. The prince was awesome, really, really good.
"We can't stop here. This is bat country"
That is the whole point with this movie!!
In the Fairy Tale world Giselle has the perfect personality. She is innocent, naive, only know happy and unhappy, don't really believe in evil, and is.
But in New York her personality doesn't fit in, and yes then it is annoying and obnoxious. But that is the whole point.
Don't take everything so seriously ...
You're a fool. Amy Adams is loveable and gorgeous.
shareLoveable, maybe. Gorgeous, hail no. She looks literally like any average chick off the streets.
http://www.formspring.me/LaGamine
no I agree with the poster above you Amy is gorgeous and a talented actress Giselle was written to be an obnoxious character Kind of Like Mae Pollitt is in Cat On A Hot Tin Roof
granted there's 49 years & Two months between the two films as Cat On a Hot Tin Roof opened in theaters September 20th 1958 and enchanted opened in theaters November 21st 2007 and the former was also Academy award nominated where Enchanted wasn't

In fact, if you brought her to meet your friends you would have to describe her as.....If I brought her to meet my friends, I would describe her as...

She is pretty, but she's not gorgeous.
well, that's fine, but she isn't any more than, again, any average woman off the street, including with makeup on, and I meant she's obnoxious in every role I've seen so far.
I try to be like Grace Kelly, but all her looks were too

But wasn't Giselle SUPPOSED to act obnoxious (in the "real world" at least)?
It's just a parody, remember? :)

yes..and? IDK what you mean.
http://www.formspring.me/LicoriceLips Formspring me!
A parody means something that makes fun of a genre (such as fairytales), and that's what "Enchanted" is supposed to be.
Besides, just because Amy Adams "pretends" to be obnoxious, doesn't mean she's that way in real life (unless you've actually met her in person).
"My Samehada, it doesn't slice...It SHAVES!!!" -Kisame (Naruto)
Also, not every princess has to be "beautiful and gorgeous."
