And the teacher being racist is not an exaggeration. I have a friend whose teacher, during a lecture on slavery, actually turned to her and said: "Your the little N-gger of our class." Be grateful that your biggest care in life is being able to sit around and bitch about not wanting to listen to other people's problems, rather than experience these problems yourself. Oh, and no one is asking for sympathy. What you need to have is empathy. But empathy is a higher emotion and some people simply lack the capacity for it, which sounds like the case with you.
