Why don't people like J.Lo?

Her celebrity and millions are based on nothing. Aside from being a good dancer and a great business woman--I'll give it to her there--she's completely talentless. As a Latina, I hate that she's one of our sole representatives in the states.
shareWow....a remarkably honest and spot on comment. Well done, LD. The only part I have grievance with is the "completely talentless" description of her inability. I propose she actually has negative talent. She sucks otherwise moderately talented people into her vortex of sucktitude, thereby expending their talent to prop her up to talentless.

shareFirst, I'll tell you I'm not a J-Lo fan but I completely agree with your opinion, Huey. At least J-Lo is a hardworking woman who has earned what she's got, for good or bad. If you want to comment on untalented and really useless people the list might fall short, but Paris Hilton would head the list for sure. Why don't you comment on these people who senselessly fill the contents of tabloids, mags and tv shows around the world and they are just used for nothing but to fullfill the frustated dreams of readers who watch and devour their "ordeals" in every issue? Then, there'll be a point.
shareYou're wrong about her. I saw this movie and I strongly believe she did an outstanding job. Her portrayal of Puchi was geniune. She does has talent. People overlooked that because they are either shallow or jealous of her. What has she done to anyone? Like she has said, it is tough being in the business. I agree and she is definitely more of a business women. She is constantly in fashion magazines and cashing on her fame to wear and pose top designers. I think she is very overrated and she has tried to get herself in many projects that have failed. Even studios have kind of realized she is not liked as much or talented as think she is.

I am sorry I disagree about her as Latina being "sole representatives"?
I mean there is "Penélope Cruz" whom I think is among the very talented Latina actress both in US and Spain. I saw "Eva Mendez" in a film called "The Place Beyond the Pines", she was great and proved she is talented, she should continue doing those kind more serious roles. I am not a fan of "Salma Hayek" but there was one film I saw her with Russel Crow called "Breaking Up"; and it was probably among her best work. That film was so overlooked; its a terrific film. Salma has some talent but her film choices are similar to J.LO, she can go further if she wants to.
I think the problem with J.LO is that she has become a very popular household name, like "Kim Kardashian", both have carved a career from their name. The movie "Selena" was what really started for JLO, her music career also added another layer, plus all the relationships and marriages that she has had so far always placed in the spot light. But her acting talent is very limited, she has no range. I just find her very self-absorbed in almost everything she does, I doubt if most people consider her the " sole representatives" of Latina?. share
