Both because the performances are better, I mean Streep is magnetic and totally steals the show, but also because the heroine is a more likeable and more admirable person.
The heroine of "WG" backstabs her way to the middle, and it's pretty clear that she's going to end up like the ex-boss whose back she stabbed, the ending is meant to be ironic and disturbing. I prefer the uncomplicated ending of "TDWP", where the heroine reclaims her original dreams. In "WG" the heroine accepts the toxic culture of the industry she works in, in "TDWP" the heroine rejects it.
