All the praise given to this movie (some called it the best superhero movie) - I found it to be B-list. Peggy was gorgeous, but she was generic love interest. The storyline was predictable. The special effects were weak in comparison to other superhero movies. And we didn’t get a good payoff fight between Cap and the red skull fella

shareI'm fairly certain people were referring to The WINTER SOLDIER as being the Best and I have it on Blu Ray along with the FIRST AVENGER.. If you've never seen The WINTER SOLDIER, I highly recommend it

shareI mostly agree with you. I didn't understand at the time why Chris Evans,who had already played the Human Torch, was cast as Cap. I really don't think most fans completely accepted him as Cap until the first Avengers film. So I don't think it was as praised as you might think.
