Incredibly stupid move to lay down on the grenade. If he knows it's fake then just pick it calmly up and smile while the others run away in panic, or do something else cool with it. But if he assumes it's real it would be completely retarded to do what he did.
shareThis is actually a very real thing. Many soldiers though out history have thrown themselves on grenades to absorb the impact and fragmentation and save the lives of their nearby comrades. If he assumed the grenade was real, then Steve was selflessly sacrificing his life to save the other nearby soldiers. While others thought to only preserve their own lives, he threw himself into mortal danger to save others.
In the history of the U.S. military, more citations have been issued for the Medal of Honor for throwing oneself on a grenade than for any other act, so doing so is not retarded, it’s actually an act of incredible self sacrifice.
