Overall good, but two scenes in this movie made me laugh really hard...

I liked the movie, and found Denzel's character to be really well played. It seems like it took inspiration from one of those 80s movie, where the hero is a regular guy with no supernatural powers, however he is invincible. I loved the villain. He wasn't physically built for 1v1 combat, however his cleverness and lack of emotions made him intimidating.

Having said that, the movie has a couple of flaws, and I found two scenes to be hilarious:

1. The scene with the cop suffocating in his car... how can anyone get locked inside a car? He had one arm free, surely he could unlock the door.

2. The warehouse scene reminded me of Home Alone. I mean bad guys come in, and the main actor sets traps in a place that he is familiar with (workplace in this case).

I didn't like the movie all that much as I agree the car scene is silly. Anyone would at least try to break the window.

The most embarrassing scene I think was DZ walking away with the large explosions in the background. Silly Hollywood crap... Well, I guess most of the movie was but that scene typified it.

It was pretty ridiculous that he never grabbed one of the Russian's rifles.

Even just as a contingency. He could have still ran around with his rakes and drills, but had the rifle, just in case someone wasn't stupid enough to fall for his traps.

Not to mention, he wouldn't give away his position anyway, considering the gang didn't all converge every time a shot was fired. And even if they did he would have been gone by then anyway.

He dropped rifle training and opted for nailgun training instead.

There are remote starters on cars, if you look that is what McCall seems to be holding . These things can start your car however you can not drive with them on like that, you have put the key in first.

Also Kevin would have killed the bandits like 58 times lol.

Just watched it last night and my wife yelled out the same thing.

"He's going all Home Alone on them."

We had a nice laugh.

What am I gonna do... with a gun rack?

You're the only person I've heard from who thinks of Home Alone when watching this movie. That involved a little blonde-haired boy, not an adult black man. It was basically pranks, not a vicious no-quarters fight to the death. It was at home, not a workplace And Robert wasn't alone. Other than that, they were the same movie. lol

A good strategist fights on the ground of their choosing. It's a force multiplier. As skilled as Robert was, it was just him and the rookie security guard in the end.

Just a word on the remote starter. Forget having to break the window. I's much easier than that. All you need to do is put your foot on the brake. Any remote starter I've ever had, factory or aftermarket, has always had a kill switch if the brake is pressed. It keeps one from putting the car in gear.

1. It's a movie.

2. It's a movie.

What I don't get is why he didn't just put his free arm in between where the window was closing.

Probably would've hurt, but a lot better than suffocating to death on car fumes.

1) I just watched that scene again, he did hit the window a couple of time with his free arm, he has also suffered head injuries and is suffocating and losing conscious.

I thought Home Alone straight away too. When he started heating the doorknob, I thought the Director was being self aware. Good film overall though i agree

hahaha the home alone comparison almost killed me
