What Makes Movies Like This B.S.

This could never happen because real soldiers would not kill civilians in this manner. Not lining them up in trucks and mowing them down. This is just drivel made by people who have nothing but disdain for the military.

You tell the people in the unit that AQ or some other Islamic outfit has dumped a stolen Russian biowarfare agent in the water and that everybody in the town is dead anyway. The soldier they caught in the barn hinted that they were not supposed to take their pro masks off. You tell them that they have to make hard choices now or that somebody would have to do the same thing to their moms and dads and little sisters in Illinois or Oregon later if they don't do it.

Yes, they would pull the triggers. You would not be able to keep them from talking though, and there would be a number of suicides later. I really do think that with the right story...and that one isn't even really impausible, you would get American kids to shoot civilians.

I was in the Army, btw.

I just think that there would be no plausible way to move troops through the states , quarantine and eliminate a sizeable section of a populace without it coming out. And I don"t think they (the Army) could keep it quiet at anything over platoon (50 to 75 men) level.

I served 8 years U.S. Army.

Yah, it is one thing to deal with a town of less than 5,000 people and something else altogether with someplace the size of Cedar Rapids. At that point, there is no secret anymore and you have to move to marshal law, suspension of the Constitution and complete federalization of the National Guard. Bad stuff...but look and see just how willing we are to go with letting ourselves and our kids get groped in the genital area by a stranger in a uniform at the airport because we are told it is needed for our safety. You can have mass killings of civilians by police and military outfits, but I guarentee that people will go with it as long as somebody shows up on tv and says it is part of national security and killing some people makes the survivors safer.

Maybe I am overly cynical...but I doubt it.

The military would absolutely do this, I don't trust the American government.

Google Operation COINTELPRO, that's just one example. The FBI with cooperation from the Chicago Police Department assassinated a black civil rights leader named Fred Hampton. If they are capable of that, they are capable of anything.

Lol OP. Read up on some actual war stories involving civilians. You'l find that even between two sides with guns, the people with none in the middle can often get the worst of it all.

Personally I think you evidently have far to much emotion invested in the military, for whatever reason, and thus defend it overbearingly and pointlessly.

It's a film, get over it.

In all likeliness if something like this actually happened the military would do an even better job of silencing the entire town.

It's only a movie.

Are you a military man yourself?

Are you kidding? This has happened hundreds, if not thousands of times in the past century. And the reason has never even been an epidemic that turns people in to murderous psychopaths. No. Usually it's just different political ideas or ethnicity. Look up "Balkans conflict" in Wikipedia.

For all you *beep* comparing this film- made in 2010 to the past actions occurring over the past few centuries...Obviously your argument is obsolete. You're missing a key factor. That factor renders any comparisons impossible. That factor is Dr. Phil. People have become pussies now a days, caught up in political correctness, talking out emotions, deserting gender roles, and so on. Men with fanny packs cry about meat products. SO stop making these *beep* comparisons. I know it's really sad that we aren't the strong human race we once were...but no need to keep reminding everyone.

Hollywood and some "crazies" are paranoid about the military sometimes. What's really at play is they hate the military because they're too cowardly to put their life in real danger for what they believe in. They'll cry about Constitutional rights, but won't ever support what it takes to preserve them. They therefore try to demonize the military in order to cope with their own short-comings.

It's a movie.

If you want reality go watch a documentary!

To the OP: I think, say, 90-percent of the people who see this movie know that soldiers wouldn't do that. The ones who walked away from this movie thinking: "Yep, that's exactly what the military would do!" Are pretty clueless anyway. In any case, dude, it's a horror movie and bad things happen in horror movies. Very few people take them seriously.
