Seriously guys. I dont want to offend the Lincon fans, but me and my BF were constantly laughing about Burroughs through all seasons.
So fans of him, I apologize to you - this is only MY conception of Burroughs and I also don´t mean the actor, but the character in the series - so here it goes:
1. He always looks like nothing is going on in his mind - plain and simply dumb - I really can´t put it any other way!
2. He dresses like an idiot… the open shirt thats supposed to look sexy but doesn't do him much favor... The way he drags hats way too deep into his face. He always tries to look cool but ends up looking really stupid in the end. When he is out and being chased, most of the time he doesn't even care to wear a hat or anything like that at all!! And his special head form is so easy to spot!
3. When he is trying to form a plan, it always goes wrong. He likes to punch people - a lot! He cares for Michael but usually messes everything up so Michael, who is so thoughtful and smart has to pick up the pieces in the end. In my opinion Michael could have done way better than trying to safe his brother! And that brings me to the point that annoys me to most about this character:
4. A LOT OF PEOPLE DIE BECAUSE OF HIM!! And YES the series tries to make us think the people die because of the company, but actually its all Lincs fault. He is just a really horrible guy and should have stayed in prison. I certainly wouldn't give him the chair, he doesn't deserve that. But hey, serious - he did agree to murder the guy in the beginning - just that he did NOT do it because he WAS already dead doesn't make this much better.
He's a big dumb lug that punches his way out of situations. He's the opposite to Michael who uses his brains. He's a thug with a heart
I agree about the shirts though. And the hats but to be fair all of the convicts were runnig around with hardly any sort of disguise. They took a cue from Superman and Clark Kented this ish.
Mike and linc - nothing Sucre- a cap Tbag - bleached hair C-note - I think he wore a jacket The kid - Shaves his head
Michael had the brains but he lacked the guts, Lincoln always did what Michael couldn't do without him even with his intelligence he wouldn't have made it far after breaking out, Linc saved his ass during the series several times (just like Sara did) he even offered himself to the Company more than once tp take him out and leave Michael alone, he even wanted to make a deal, the stupid Scylla cards in exchange for Michael's surgery I think. Even during his criminal days he also did it for Michael, to give him the cash he needed, how can anyone call him a terrible brother is beyond me, guess people either don't pay attention or have selective memory.
Yeah, but the thing is, they got spotted every time which furthered the plot. If they'd all had these elaborate disguises and no one recognized them, no show!
Well, truth be told, Michael's plans hardly ever worked out either hence the necessity of repeated prison breaks. Linc's when in doubt, punch approach wasn't much good but neither was Michael's 972 part plans which depended on such incredibly precise circumstances every step of the way as well as upon people who he never met behaving in exactly the manner he thought they would at precisely the moment he thought they would. Back in jail is back in jail and it is failure whether you land there because of a too simple plan or a too complex one. In fact, Linc was better at avoiding being returned to prison than Michael who now requires a third escape. At least Linc made the first one stick.
Well, truth be told, Michael's plans hardly ever worked out either hence the necessity of repeated prison breaks.
I thought Michael's original plan was great. The only problem was too many people being involved which couldn't be predicted in his planning. I think you could blame Linc and Abruzzi for the first failure. If they had done the only thing they are good for they would have taken out T-Bag, Haywire, and maybe even C-note early on and they get out before the alarm sounds.
Not having to wait around outside the prison which wasted time as well as T-Bag slowing down the group by handcuffing himself to Abruzzi and they make it to the private plane in time.
From there they can either leave the country immediately or fly to Utah to search for the money. At that point Abruzzi probably sticks with them and they can use the plane again to flee after retrieving the money. Michaels plan wasn't as big of a problem as Lincoln's unwillingness to what it takes protect his brother from the inmates dragging him down. Lincoln was a terrible brother.
None of the other incidents that you mentioned ruined the prison break, just the timing of it. Lincoln and Abruzzi knowing that Michael isn't really capable of violence or doing what needed to be done should have taken matters into their own hands. It's not as if Michael could leave either of them behind.
Michael's plan may have been perfection itself if applied in a vacuum but he wasn't in a vacuum, he was in prison with a lot of bad people who were likely to be unpredictable in their behavior. He didn't count on that and bad things happened. In any case, despite some set backs, his plan did work to the extent that he and Linc ended up in Panama which was their goal whereupon they discovered everyone they were trying to escape from knew exactly where they were. They were headed back to Fox River and it was only the Company's usual bungling of their murder and Kellerman's unexpected arrival that kept their escape from ending the exact same way just about all prison escape a ends with the escapees back behind bars and facing gigantic new sentences.
Terrible brother? lack of willingless what, he always was protecting his brother even that one time T-Bag dared to just push Michael Linc was there to protect him, the one time he failed to protect him is when they hurt him I think it was Abruzzi that was the only time and he then put him in his place when he got the chance, also keep in mind his time with Michael was very limited he was often isolated put in a cell, so sometimes Sucre and even C-Note had to help him instead. Now lack of willingness when can you give examples? Lincoln was naturally hopeless as he was about to be fried in an electric chair and all of Michael's plans although clever were dangerous (he didn't want him to talk to Abruzzi because he knew the guy was dangerous, that's not lack of willingless or trust either he was rightfully worried about what his brother was getting into) and failed all the time one after the other, that wasn't really on Lincoln. If anyone is to blame that is T-Bag for sticking his nose where it didn't belong and screwing all of them over, they either took him with them or he ratted them out and no one was leaving and Linc would die.
Agreed. And yes Lincoln's good avoiding going back to prison, Michael will be on his third when the show returns, and who's gonna save him? Lincoln and Sara again like they have been doing since season 2 and ahead, the people on this board keep dissing for no reason whatsoever, just because they aren't brilliant or perfect like Saint Michael doesn't mean they are stupid or useless, we've seen them get out of crappy situations on their own without Michael's brain, so they are smart enough and their hand doesn't shake when it comes to saving their loved ones lives or their own, a pretty good quality Saint Michael lacks, dude has less balls than Sara who is a woman.
true. But never use IMDb as consensus about how poorly people perceive characters, it's mostly due to not paying enough attention or deliberately ignoring facts because you are too biased. What you said the other day about people bitching about Linc and Sara is far from reality, they are largely loved characters by the fans just take a look on any social media platform, of course the main favorite is Saint Michael (love that term, lol) but they are the three most popular without a doubt, followed by T-Bag. I just saw this in my feed https://www.instagram.com/p/BDW4nFlQN__/ That is exactly how I feel about Lincoln, he is in fact the only character I could relate to on this show, same personality and behavior as mine and with my family values straight, I haven't been forced to kill anyone though!
The universe isn’t evil, John, it’s just indifferent.

I agree with you here, and I just thought of something else that was Lincoln's fault. When he called Michael before he went to shoot the guy, he interrupted a potential intimate moment between Michael and Veronica. Therefore, I feel SUPER sorry for Veronica because not only did she end up getting killed because of Lincoln, she missed out on the chance to have sex with Michael which is even more of a tragedy!

Lol you are deluded, she never got killed because of Lincoln, I think you need to watch again. She called him with info about Terrence Steadman, company came in, killed her, not Lincoln's fault.

I know what happened. The point is that Veronica wouldn't have been there in the first place if she hadn't been trying to help Lincoln. So yes, she got killed because of Lincoln.

If the company hadn't set up Lincoln in the first place, she would've never needed to help help him, again, for the last time, not Lincoln's fault.
So "the company" was the reason that he was committing crimes? If he hadn't gone to the location with the intent to commit the crime in the first place then "the company" couldn't have set him up! I don't dislike Lincoln, but I agree with the original poster that he had some issues.

Did I say that? No! I stated that the Company setting him up was why she needed to help him. Yes he committed crimes but he obviously didn't expect (no one would) this big, over-the-top government frame job was underway.
I realized this post is 8 years old but I'm recently watching the show again and had discovered that the only reason he was willing to kill Terrence Steadman was because they threatened to kill his son.
I love Linc! He's tough and violent when he needs to be but he's a good man and so different from Doms character on LoT. Love Mick too tho:)
Micheal is one of my favorite characters. He always takes me by surprise and I love how he never forgets about the victims and their families. Some shows just don't do that and I love how they're not forgotten. Not sure why people are calling him St Mick. It's like how people call Tyrion on GoT St Tyrion. I don't get it:p
I agree wholeheartedly. I have no idea why I don't like him but I really, really don't. I've watched the show on Netflix a few times now and he never grows on me. I disliked Don Self and Gretchen as well. I didn't like the right hand man to the prison leader in Season 2 but even he was more tolerable than the three previously named characters.

I tried watching this show on netflix, started with season 2 as I have read how season 1 ended. Lincoln thing with the shirts is disturbing, he looks like a moron or like he is straight from the airport from Hawaii or something. First I thought something made him in a hurry when they got the clothes at the graveyard but apparently hel liked this look. If you are one of the 8 most wanted men in america u are not going undercover by looking like a moron. This and the phony plot where ppl turned on each other endless times, the absymal acting by the kid and how silly the Mahone character was made me stop this show and erase it from my watching history, I was ashamed.
