Spike Lee should have directed this
Does anyone else echo the same thoughts? He would've been great to tell the story of one of his idols, being from Brooklyn. I just feel his perspective might be more genuine than those of others

shareMy question is, "What is deficient in this movie the way it is, that you think Spike Lee could have done better"? There would be no other reason to wish it had been directed by Spike Lee or anyone else unless you think it could have been better. If it's great the way it is, it's always possible that Lee or someone else might actually have made it a lesser film.

Spike Lee would've made a better movie. This movie shouldn't even be called 42. It should be called Branch Rickey and his friend. Robinson is not the protagonist. He affects no change. He is not changed by the events of the film. Things happen to him, he does not happen to things. Branch Rickey is the hero of this film, and that is shameful.
shareNo!
shareSpike Lee said that he wanted to do the Jackie Robinson story 15 years ago. But he said that he didn't want to do a 90 minute minute movie just focusing on the two years he entered the Major Leagues. He said he wanted to do an epic on the life of the man.
shareNo definitely not. Can't believe anyone would say that. The movie is great. Spike couldn't have made it better.
