Alicia Silverstone thinks there was enough women representation before 'Wonder Woman'.

http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/106699659.html

- Alicia Silverstone remains 'Clueless' after all this years.
- She doesn't get WW praise cause she said woman have had representation before 'Wonder Woman'.
- Wants to name female led movies....barely gets to three (including Clueless).
- She compared WW to....that other amazing women led film on theatres right now... (She meant 'Rough Night', which tanked.)
- Alicia -who feeds her kids mouth-to-mouth like baby birds- doesn't want her kids to see all those flashes and sounds in 'Wonder Woman'. Apparently she hasn't seen a movie since 1991.
- She and some other three 94 year old women still enjoy 'The Good Wife'.

she is right !
sounds like she is not a feminist....so therefore she will get criticized by the media and SJW´s

reply

She's great... wish we saw more of her in movies today... alas she is a real woman, not a cartoon hero...

reply

Meanwhile she's starring in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid reboot.

Clueless indeed.

Can I include TV? Because Buffy, Dana Scully, Ellen Ripley, Xena, Captain Janeway from ST: Voyager, Starbucks in Nu Battlestar Galactica, all women in Farscape, Linda Hamilton in Terminator. Should we include comics? Let's not, I don't have the time.

It's not even the first female led comic book movie. Science fiction and fantasy is chockfull of strong, kicking ass and taking names women. Princess Leia was pretty bad ass in A New Hope while Luke was mostly a whiny snot nosed kid.

You can add horror movies to the list also. Strong/heroine female lead is usually the norm in those movies.

reply

Oh, totally.

Also... women lead the hunger games movies, divergent series, twilight movies... most young adult/teen movies have female leads nowadays...

Add to that the movies Jennifer Lawrence or jennifer lopez star in... they're usually the lead... it was the same witjlh julia roberts in the past... so not new...

Its just that those movies dont traffic in the kind of gender baiting nonesense that the supporters of this wonder woman movie do... alicia makes a valid point

She's right. We already have tons of female representation in modern movies, TV, and games. Sarah Connor, Ellen Ripley, the Bride, Buffy, Samus Aran, Selene, Black Widow etc. The filmmakers likely agreed with her as they chose to specifically downplay the whole "girl power" angle in the film and focus more on broader themes about the violent nature of mankind and our tendency to start wars and cause destruction amongst each other. That way, regardless of how you feel about modern day feminism, you can enjoy this film. They chose the safe route, but at least it wasn't a gender baiting SJW flick the shitty Ghostbusters remake was.

The thing is, no-one really wants gender politics in fun action adventures. The Ghostbuster went to far with the "look at us gals being just a gross and zany as you guys!" thing. Wonder Woman just is. It's not really ever made a point that she's a woman or anything up that alley. She is what she is and does what she does and that's it.
