I do not see anything racist about this movie insofar as the script and story are concerned. However, (of course there was a however) the intro J. Geils Band toon "Mean Mamma Jamma," vocalized by Peter Wolf, is an audio minstral show. Every time I hear this song (and I hear it a lot, living in the Boston area) I cringe. I do not have a problem with this film, but the intro song is so repulsively offensive and racist (as are Geils Band and Wolf) that I have to turn it off every time. "Mean Mamma Jamma" needs to go the way of "Song of the South."
Really? I've never seen the Peter Wolf and/or JGB do this song live, but whenever I hear it (and I hear it a lot on the radio being in the Boston area), I cannot help but picture Peter Wolf in "blackface."
You see race everywhere you look but everyone else saw a superhero movie. Maybe you should take stock in what you believe and how you feel about other ethnic groups.
I hate to break it to you but everyone finds people like you repulsive and offensive. Why can't you Americans grow up already? Here in Canada, nobody give a crap about race or interracial couples. It's not even an issue here.
Please join the rest of the world in the 21st century when you get a chance. We are all tired of hearing about the 18th century.

Oh, we see how you handle race relations alright, Mr. Canada - you let them DIE OFF and pretend they never existed. Or have you forgotten about 1/3 ACADIANS that you Canadians left destitute to starve? Of course you did. Typical Canada. Can't face the truth so you lie to yourselves.
You know where the Acadians found a home, Mr. Canada? That's right - AMERICA. I should know, I am one. No wonder US AMERICANS have to do everything for you.
By the way, how is Karla Homolka these days? Or are ALL YOU CANADIANS perfectly fine when a young woman rapes her own sister and other young girls, then cuts their bodies to pieces because she loves her ALL-CANADIAN husband sooo much ... hmmmm? I mean, you Canadians did let her out of jail after all - despite the please of these murder victims families. Oh well, they're just victims families, the real victims are DEAD (aha! Just like Acadians!) Typical.
aukkonen - Your Nationalism is as bad as any racism. You label all Americans in your post. And you say there are no racist Canadians? I will be very specific here so that I offend no one but you. Your post paints you as an idiot.
*beep* YOU , slavery was abolished 200 years ago. GET OVER IT. all nations suffered and still suffer, what gives you blacks the right to whine about it even today?
here in eastern europe just 10 years ago genocide happend, u dont see in the news albans or jews whine about it...
racism is made by people who keep reminding others how different they are. in plain english, ur feeding racism by always bringing it up.
I for one will always bring up what the white race has done to my people, not you Eastern wgereever you are but the American whites, well some of them anyway. I will not get over it! I will not forget and I will not let them forget.
Lol!! I already forgot. Wanna know why? Because I wasn't even a thought when it happened and neither were any of the people that I know, or anyone alive today for that matter. I/we had nothing to do with it and I refuse to be penalized for any of it.
I do have to say while I don't think the movie had any 'racist' intentions. But in the beginning of movie the black superhero acting as irresponsible, rude and careless as he did just seemed a little I guess racially insensitive. Later on the movie he did develop into a fully rounded characters. But at the beginning of the film, I can't disagree if anyone calls him a racist caricature.
