Anyone really hate this movie?

Being a guy, I initially had some doubts about this movie but I was pleasantly surprised after watching it. Usually I'm not a big fan of chick flicks but I really think this movie deserves at least an 8.0 rating. It was a well paced, simple and well-executed movie. I just wonder why others think it deserves anything less than an 8.0.

When I checked this movie out, I honestly wasn't expecting much. I like Edward Norton, and I don't really watch Naomi Watt's movies much. I found it a little too predictable, but still a good movie.

Well, I did hate it. Not because it's slow-paced. Not because it makes a mockery of the book it's based on (although it's a real shame). Simply because it never showed any real feeling and never made me care. Not the situations described, not the acting.

EDIT: It gives me even more pleasure writing this as I am perhaps the only one "on topic". Now, please write something fast to close your eyes to reality and reinforce yourself that it was a good movie you liked.

I've not read the book.

The visuals were among the best I've ever seen. The acting was first rate. The love story was both bittersweet and tremendiously touching. It is about more then their love for each other, it's about her changing internally and coming to view the world differently.

Every scene was terrific. It was dark and yet strangely uplifting at the same time. Not easy to forget after. Academy award worthy absolutely. Shows once again the depth of Norton's acting, he continues to amaze me. He's not HANDSOME but he's got so much soul he becomes beautiful.

I just saw it for the first time last week but would say it's the best movie I've seen this year(Revolutionary Road was it for me last year.)

And I really wouldn't call it a chick flick either.

This movie was amazing, and I too cried excessively at the end, although I had foreshadowed the outcome.
Awesome movie, I would say a movie everyone needs to see at least once, ( if you truly appreciate quality movies.)

I wouldn't say that I hate it. I expected more from the movie given the lead actors and how truly beautifully shot it is but it turned out to be somewhat predictable.

This was an exceptional film. I had my reservations at first but when I finally got around to watching it, I was overwhelmed. What a brave film to make today. What a truly exceptional performance (AGAIN) from Miss Watts and the always reliable Norton.

I'm the kind of guy who just isn't interested in watching much broadcast Television, or Cinema in general, and I REALLY cringe at the thought of having to suffer through, Oops, I mean, "watch" anything my girlfriend may suggest. But on this movie, I must say, it is truly one for the ages, with great acting, and story line. Naomi Watts, B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!

Such a great movie, it's even prompted me to comment on here, and that's a first. LOL!
