Beware Beatles fans!

They turned every song into a love song I don't mean lyric-ly (obviously), but instrumentally. They all focused solely on the vocals with minimal support from the rest of the band... cause, you know, that's what the beatles were all about.

Any TRUE fan of the beatles (their good stuff anyway...) would have to agree that they butchered their songs right?... right!?? ANSWER ME DAMN ITTT!! ARRRAGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!

...anyway, the stupid freakin sap story didn't really keep my attention either so I stopped watching halfway. I'm gonna go ahead and label this a chick flick.

You are wrong. I don't think Revolution was turned into a love song.

As a true Beatles fan, I think the movie gave meaning to the songs, as they were written, when putting them in context of what was happening at the time. The songs were also represented amazingly well, with excellent (and better) singing voices, and acting thrown in.

A wonderful movie with wonderful music.

I grew up with the Beatles. When I was younger, I always had a knee-jerk purist reaction to almost any interpretation, with the exception of (some) of their contemporaries.

Now that decades have passed, (and with my own opinion of the film in question notwithstanding,) anything that creates an understanding or interest in the music with newer / younger / fresh listeners I find a good thing. They can independently decide if it's great, or rubbish from there. The ongoing dialogue in and of itself is wonderful. :)

The movie was a love story, but I do not agree that all the songs were made into love songs. I Want You and Strawberry Fields Forever were definitely not love songs. Even though I Want You was written by Paul as a blues based love song, it was not used as a love song in the movie.

Some of the songs although reworked, still were interpreted as the Beatles meant them to be. The drug influenced songs remained drug songs, the "love" songs remained love songs. However, Oh, Darling, also a love song, was used to show the discord between Sadie and JoJo.

I thought Dear Prudence was a bit of a stretch and came off as sappy, but overall, I thought the arrangements and their use in the movie were good. I enjoyed some of the arrangement quite a bit, and thought much of the singing was excellent. The choreography was also very imaginative.

Enjoying this movie does not diminish my enjoyment of the Beatles' original in any way.
