What are your top 2 of 2007?

For me it's a constant battle between Breach and Zodiac. Wondering if anyone else has the same issue with No Country for Old Men or whatever other bleak films that came out in 07 we were all apparently so fascinated by!

Oh man hard to pick only 2, cause 4 of my favorite movies came out that year, Zodiac, No Country For Old Men, Gone Baby Gone, and The Assassination of Jessie James.

reply

1. Zodiac
2. The Bourne Ultimatum

I could have been more “appropriate” and chosen a more prestigious film like No Country for Old Men as either #1 or #2, and though that film WAS my favorite of 2007 for years, I have seen the Bourne movie many more times and I find it to be more thrilling in more ways than one. And yes, I’m partial to it. It’s a great piece of action cinema.

Looking at the movies that came out that year... plenty of great stuff in there. Lots of great genre films: Superbad isn't masterful cinema, but it's excellent for what it is. Juno is great. Grindhouse was soooo much fun, and the films are just about perfect for what they were meant to be. Loved Enchanted. 3:10 to Yuma was a fantastic Western. Very solid year for the "won't win an Oscar, but great nonetheless" films.

Then of course the aforementioned heavy-hitters, of which Zodiac is my favorite, though I think No Country for Old Men is nearly as good. Just noticed The Darjeeling Limited is 2007. That may trump them all, and be my actual favorite of the year.
