Surprisingly intense movie here
I take myself pretty seriously and am exceedingly self-important, therefore I don't generally waste my time on all but the most compelling cinema. Like I've only got one or two TV shows I'll lend my limited time to and after ensuring I've weeded out movies of questionable quality, probably watch only watch two or three of them a week.
That being said, this movie did not displease me. In fact, there were a number of parts where I found my self on the edge of my seat, my inner voice satisfied that, yes, this is what good movies are supposed to do. I remember this feeling. Being drawn in...caring about the fate of the characters. This is what good movies are all about!
That ALSO being said, this is a pretty good movie that'd have been friggin amazing had it had a huge Hollywood budget, but that the did exceedingly well with what they had. Kind of a spoiler, but my only real gripe: I wish people would have kept their heads down more...they needed to lay low damnit, bullets are whizzing overhead and they're popping their heads above cover like friggin whack-a-moles. Boing boing boing. A whole lot of people using their faces to stop bullets.
Anyway, if you're as super duper important as I am and want to enjoy a good war movie, I'd give this film a chance. Good character development, intense scenes, plenty of action with a whole bunch of satisfying enemy deaths, people getting shot up, exploded...screaming, flying bodies etc.
Also interesting to see the field work...how artillery and air support works so closely in tandem with infantry, how its coordinated through the field HQ there, miles away from the action. Interesting stuff in showing just how vital communications and teamwork are.
