If This Film Flops

HOW DARE IT TARNISH Burton and Keaton's legacy. 😠

This is the fault of Zack Snyder, Walter Hamada, Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer (i.e. the people who initiated the DCEU), but their universe FAILED, and so, instead of shitting on precious, soft-spoken, sun-shines-out-of-his-British-poshboy-ass, Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, they decided to crap on Burton's Bat-movies, even though Burton had NOTHING to do with the DCEU, and Warner Bros had already fucked him over when they fired him over Batman 3, and screwed up his plans to make a Superman film.

HOW DARE THEY do this to the legacy of the films that STARTED the comic-book-movie craze (i.e. Batman and Batman Returns)! And don't give me that Superman crap. What followed Superman and Superman II? Swamp Thing, Howard the Duck and the Dolph Lundgren Punisher movie...

Batman and Batman Returns were the REAL game-changers, but NONE of you show these films the respect they DESERVE. 😠

reply

Batman and Batman Returns certainly WERE game-changers. I hope The Flash doesn't bomb (I haven't seen it yet). The reviews are polarising but at least Keaton's work is getting love pretty much across the board.

reply

The Plot is very weak, the funny stuff is lame, and you have 2 bumbling idiots throughout the movie. The end is funny though.

Edge of Tomorrow (2014) was much more entertaining than this one.

reply

How can you be so angry about something this benign.
Tim Burton's batman wasn't ruined by this. Not like Star wars was ruined by the prequels and the sequels.

reply

I hope you're right (about Batman).

reply

If this flops, I don't think it will tarnish either one of them necessarily. Especially when Keaton is being praised as one of the film's highlights.

reply

I've seen The Flash now. I don't see any way Burton's or Keaton's legacy is tarnished. Keaton did a great job, carried the scenes he was in, and most reviewers agree that his performance was the film's highlight.

reply

Agreed, Keaton was magnificent in this, I wasn't too fussed on the first half ..until Barry went to 2013 and tracked down keaton batman... then the film really kicked into gear! omg it was so cool seeing him again and the vaguely 'Dark Knight' inspired Batcave expanded/built for real (unlike B89/BR), the refurbished batwing, batman kicking soviet ass, then going into 'Man of Steel' BTTF 2 style and taking on General Zod & Co... It was absolute insanity!

reply

I had decided that when The Flash comes out on Blu-ray I'd put it on the shelf next to Batman and Batman Returns as a trilogy. But I think I'm gonna have to put Man of Steel in there too, otherwise it won't make a lot of sense. So it'll be a quadrilogy, with Batman missing from the third one.

Just trying to think what to call it, though...

reply

Could just put the MoS and Flash discs inside the Batman Anthology set ?

reply

Yeah, I don't have the Anthology set. I refuse to buy/own Batman & Robin!

reply

I might go with the 'Spaghetti Quadrilogy'

reply

Nothing is tarnished or ruined.

If you don't like this movie, don't watch it any more. You can still watch and enjoy Batman and Batman Returns the same as before. You just don't watch this one.

It's not even like there was some big plot twist or development here, that disagreed with anything that happened in the previous films. It was just Michael Keaton cameoing as Batman in a modern Flash film.
