Disney getting their hands on it

Not sure it could get any worse? Strap yourselves in!

Yeah, Disney is probably doing this to shield the first black, gay Doctor from Nielsen reporting low broadcast tv ratings.

Finally got their hands on it hey after it being turned down last time in 2020, which had Marvel go off and make Loki into pretty much a Doctor Who like show. Loki with the Tesseract and referred to as a "criminal with a blue box, Doctor Who with the T.A.R.D.I.S and referred to as a "an idiot with a blue box." In Loki though Mobius is more Doctor Who like and Loki a version of Missy when she was the Master (not all evil, not all good), so we're really looking at it all from the Masters perspective in Loki.

So guess if Disney production values go into Doctor Who we don't have to look far to see what it will look like, plus I wonder if somewhere down the line Loki and Doctor Who will cross paths in some sort of wibbly, wobbly time thing now.

I will add that RTD has the overall say and I think he would put his foot down

I can see this working if Disney do not try too change too much but help e.g. financially, technology etc.

BBC still has full control of production. Disney+ only distributes outside UK.

Having thought about this they probably don't need any input as it fits their agenda in any case. All boxes pre-checked.

As of Russell T Davies coming in Bad Wolf Productions takes over.

radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/doctor-who-bad-wolf-creative-control-newsupdate/

Production company Bad Wolf will take over creative control on Doctor Who from the BBC starting with series 14, which will see the introduction of a new lead actor and the return of showrunner Russell T Davies. The Times reported that the BBC could lose out on up to £40 million of commercial revenue per every 10 episodes produced as a result of this deal, with one source remarking it's "extraordinary" that the BBC have "rolled over." However, BBC Studios counter that it will continue to commercially run Doctor Who and its associated properties, with the hope being that this collaboration with Bad Wolf will allow the franchise to be further established as a global brand."

Basically BBC Studios is now the marketing arm while Bad Wolf Productions have creative control, what is interesting is that Bad Wolf is now full owned by Sony Pictures Television. So this deal with Disney+ means Sony and Disney will be working together after years of being at loggerheads over the Marvel products that Sony owned (Deadpool, Spider-Man, X-Men etc), that are coming back to Disney Marvel, which could make for interesting times.

Bad Wolf was founded by ex-BBC people who are producing Doctor Who now. Their previous shows have high ratings and no "woke" complaints here.

From that same wiki link you posted: In October 2021, it was announced that Sony Pictures Television would acquire a majority of Bad Wolf, with Sony Pictures Television acquiring the remaining shares from HBO and Sky plc in February 2022. The deal brought in a new member, Natasha Hale, along with a long-term partnership to produce future productions and boost Cardiff's standing in the entertainment industry.

So I am commenting about the "BBC still has full control of production part, they don't Sony owned Bad Wolf has creative control now, who have also brought in their own person in Natasha Hale. Just because Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter are ex-BBC, doesn't mean they'll be bowing down to what the BBC want they left 7 years ago in 2015 (8 by the time this starts in Nov 2023), more so they're immediate bosses are now Sony and that's who they listen to and report to not the BBC.

Not saying their bosses Sony are going to go all "woke" on it either, a word quite frankly I see as getting thrown around willy-nilly these days sometimes just on casting choices not what is actually happening in the show. What is interesting is that Sony and Disney will now be working together after being at loggerheads for so long and that could prove to be interesting times ahead if their visions for Doctor Who are slightly different (like what Sony saw Marvel as vs what Disney sees Marvel as).
