Did V ever have a name.

I know in the movie they said he had forgotten who he was and that they never said his name. What II'm wondering is did they ever say his name in the comic.

V's name was never revealed. Also it was never even confirmed what sex V was. It was only assumed that V was male. In fact Alan Moore wrote it so that V's entire back story (concentration camp survivor) was always in question.

He's anonymous. And at the end of the film it's shown that he could be anyone, and anyone could be him. He's an ideal. Who he is doesn't matter.
