Is Jack Gay?
I didnt quite understand the gay jokes towards jack. Was he gay or wasnt he? if not then why did they keep making gay jokes to him? and that scene in the shower when he checks out angels dick was a bit weird too

I'm pretty sure Jack wasn't gay. Although the movie never specificaly shows anything definitive either way, I get the strong impression that he was straight. He was the youngest and appeared more sensative than the others and you can clearly tell that Bobby thinks Jack's music is a girly direction to take his life in. I don't think Bobby truly believed Jack was gay. He was just being a playful bullying older brother. As for Jack checking out Angel's dick, I too thought it was a little strange. But if you had a very sensitive, genital related question, wouldn't you ask a sibling over anyone else? And they all seem to have a really open relationship with eachother. They were living together through probably the roughest times of their lives. So even though theres no blood between them, they are brothers. And they have an unbreakable bond.
shareI didn't used to think he was but I'm re-watching the movie right now, and I'm not too sure, Jack has a line that's quietly heard where he says "Man would you leave that alone" and I mean I'm sure he is just sick of the gay jokes but I dk, maybe he is and they just give him *beep* over it. I guess we don't really know for sure....

As a target of dozens of personal verbal and some physical attacks back in my teen years, that was definitely his way of establishing boundaries, so the line was drawn.

It may not have been truly established, but he comes off as straight. If he had to choose between the golf club/golf balls and the hole in one, he'd choose the hole in one.
Plus, I remember in a commentary or a documentary that Jack was supposed to have gone through some kind of childhood abuse.
Yeah... when they're eating together at the beginning of the movie and everyone is flashing on their memories of their Mom, she pretty much spells out that he (Jack) was abused as a child.
But then, there was the scene in the bathroom when Bobby tells Angel to have Jack look at the rash on his wang because Jack is an expert (and Jack says rug burn). I kind of got the impression that maybe Jack was a hustler at one time, hence he knew what sick wangs looked like. Not a whole lot of evidence to back that impression up, but it's what I took away from the scene.
It's possible the brothers teased him about being gay to try and lessen the sting of being abused. Like instead of making it this dark shameful secret, they just kept poking at it until it lost it's power.

That's a good thought, Jake Zero. Green talked about how Jack was such a screw up, and I had no idea what crimes he could possibly commit other than petty theft or things like that, but he definitely could've been a hustler.
shareFor him being consulted on what that might be on Angel's genitals, I assumed they were asking him as he may have had a lot of girls as a 'rock star'. Plus, he's a good looking chap. Failing that, maybe Bobby was just getting a second opinion.
