What a great man. Reckless (some might say stupid), but with good intentions. He loved animals and nature.
After reading some of the negatives comments about him, now I understand why he wanted nothing to do with civilization.
Wut? He was a fool, caught up in his own made up persona. He was a failed wanna be actor, who happened upon these bears. He wasn't "protecting" them from anything. If anything I'm actually surprised he lasted that long without being eaten. I'm not trying to be insincere or a prick, but c'mon, he pressed his luck, and his luck ran out. It's just a shame he brought that girl along and she stuck around till the bitter end.
shareit is noble to want to save animals but what did he really do. he camped by the animals and filmed him self being a bad ass. all the running around, camo makeup, bandannas, all the carrying on screaming how he *beep* beat everyone else. He was more about promoting himself then protecting the animals.

People hate him and will play down what he did because deep down they know he's right, but don't want to change their own lives to do the right thing.
First of all, he didn't last all those years out of sheer dumb luck. He knew what he was doing. He might have acted cooky for the camera, but he understood how to be around the bears without being attacked. There was a method to his madness.
Second, people questioning what he really did for the bears. He brought attention to their cause and educated people (for free mind you.) He did not physically save hundreds of bears or something, but as a filmaker, his mission was to spread the word. And he succeeded tremendously.

Perhaps it is too hopeful of both of us to recognize what is really behind the vitriolic responses to Tim`s life and death; the awareness that he was right (and that by contrast, ones own life tends to be without passion and purpose).
But such ugly postings could be plain ignorance. Perhaps, worst of all, they are the spewings of empty souls who caught themselves in the mirror of a person whose life had meaning; bringing awareness to the plight of non human life. Yes, I agree; Timothy`s life and meaning.

I hadn't even heard about this until a few days ago. And what I've learned? Bears can kill you without a second thought. I agree with Joe Rogan when he says, "bears are a$$holes".
First thought when I learned about this,"how stupid was this guy?"

Hey folks,
I do not hate the guy; I really do not care much about the guy. He was delusional. I am simply happy he chose to live his delusional life among predatory bears rather than with human society where his delusions might have set him off to become predatory and kill other humans which clearly displeased him so.
Hate him? No, I tend to fear him and what he might do to others he hated.
