Reverse racism at its worst! Just like 'The Wiz'

I'm sorry, but whenever I see roles recast to pander to minorities, it just pisses me off. If Dorothy was white in the original, then she should be white in the remakes. It's just like "The Wiz" all over again. We see this happen all of the time in Hollywood remakes, where a traditional white role gets changed "just to reimagine it." It's just like when Will Smith gets cast in roles that were originally played by whites (Wild Wild West).

What would happen if they remade "Gone with the Wind" with an all black cast? Or what if they cast a white guy in what was a traditional black role?

We have to sit back and take this, but if it were the other way around, the minorities would be screaming "racism!"

It should work both ways, but it doesn't in this country. Whites get screwed.

Don't worry, I'll bet it won't be long before we see white people finally getting the opportunities which have so long been denied to them. Why it wouldn't surprise me if one day we see white people as heads of corporations, congressman or even president.

Its hard to convey sarcasm in the written word. I'm hoping you recognize it.

Ah, yes, "reverse racism". The idea that for far too long, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, and Native Americans have had their boot on the neck of the white man!

Not to defend this movie too much (you know, because regardless of the casting, it's still a God-damn horrible movie), but it's supposed to be a modern retelling of the story (much like "The Wiz" was in the '70s). It's not Kansas in the early 20th century; it's Kansas in the early 21st century.

The more people I meet, the more I get why Jane Goodall spends all of her time with chimps.....

There is no such thing as "Reverse racism" there is ONLY racism. The term can be used both ways and doesn't what race something is geared at racism is racism. Further more the "Reverse racism" isn't what bugged me abut the cast.....what bugged me is that the cast sucked.....something that has nothing to do with race.

I'm with the TC on this one. Remember the BOOKS that the movies are based on? What race is Dorothy in the books? If you CHANGE something that's that obvious in a movie version, then you're NOT being faithful to the book version.

IF I want your opinion, I'll GIVE it to you.

So your problem with being unfaithful to the source material was that there was a person of color in the cast. Did you not notice that most of the cast was FREAKIN' PUPPETS?
