The best scene?

Which was your favourite scene?
I personally loved the sunrise scene with New Order, I thought it was such an artistic and gentle moment in the film and definitely the peak of the tale. And I also loved the Adam Ant affair scene simply because the music fit it so well.

I love when MA first arrives at Versailles and tours her bedchamber. The jump-cuts and whizzy cameras are so dizzy and sumptuous. But my absolute favorite is the outdoor tent party. It's just sooo relatable and reminds me of those really silly parties you have with your friends where you're not talking about anything in particular but still having a really good time. I love Polignac climbing across the table just to toast with the other guests and when they're sitting around smoking from the pipe. It's so youthful and audacious.

Marie Antoinette having read the letter of how wonderful her brothers and sisters are doing in their marriages. The narration, her expression as she sinks against the wall and then looks directly into the camera... all covered with such lovely music. The prior shots of the men riding horses are so lush, too.

Every shadow no matter how deep is threatened by morning light.

The first time I saw the movie, I was floored by the Hong Kong Garden scene and still enjoy it very much. The New Order scene is also great fun. Even though I didn't agree with adding that element to the plot, for entertainment purposes, the piano music after Count Fersen leaves and MA is roaming wistfully is quite touching.

two favorite scenes is the one where shes running in the hall when shes thinking about count fersen and just jumps onto a pillow after she askes to be excused. dont know what song is playing in the background but i think its by new order? not sure but i love that song, and the second is of course the birthday party

reply

New Order's Ceremony plays during the birthday party, but when MA is running and thinking of Count Fersen, The Strokes- What Ever Happened is playing ^^

Definitely the first encounter with Count Fersen is my favorite...MA on the bed with her fan and that very intense seductive stare - AMAZING!

Second favorite scene - Masquerade Ball - Siouxsie & The Banshees Hong Kong Garden (one of my all time favorite songs)

3rd favorite scene: Marie Antoinette with her little daughter at her country retreat

it makes you long for moments like that one.

When she's lying on her bed, and she is thinking of her lover who she misses. I know that feeling so well. It's the most helpless and powerless moment that a woman can have. A physical ache, combined with overwhelming emotion and the final harsh fact that she can't be with him.

I Want Candy (those SHOES), the masquerade ball, the birthday party, the dinner party in the tent and the Adam and the Ants adultery scene. Oh, and the bit right at the very beginning of the film in the credits, where Marie Antoinette is eating cake and having her feet massaged, and she just gives this little look at the camera.

"It's your mom, dude!"

the ball. hong kong garden works so well with that scene.

I loved the whole thing BUT I think my favorite scene is after she gives birth and her husband goes to her and kisses her and smiles at her- I just thought that was so touching.

And the part where after her SIL had a baby and she ran to her room and broke down and cried- that just made me feel so bad for her :( I thought it was such an emotional scene and that KD played it so well.
