The best argument against prosthetic 'old school' makeup effects ever!

IMDB boards are full of people screaming that they hate CGI and how the 'old school' prosthetic make up effects were so much better and more realistic; films like this which contain some of the cheesiest rubber make-up effects in existence, just makes the case for CGI effects even more strongly.

I mean, if the Hatchet film makers were deliberately trying to make the effects unconvincing then they did their job, but they clearly were not. The make up in this was just laughable.

With the exception of 'The Thing', prosthetic make up effects were never any good back in the 1980's let alone in the 21st century.

Case Closed.

I'm pretty damn sure they didn't try to make the effects as convincing as possible.

LOL! thats laughable. Haven't you seen George Romero's Day of the Dead? the makeup effects were breathtaking and totally original. it takes real artists and sculptors to make these amazing effects. with CGI i almost always can tell that it isn't real immediatley. it just annoys me and takes me right out of the story. with make up effects it's organic and CGI is too glitchy and fake looking. nuff' said!

Hmm. I hope the makers of this film didn't take it as seriously as jona100 did. Clearly, they weren't going for realism with the effects here. I didn't think a movie as simple as this one could go over soooo many heads. It's *not* a serious horror movie, fer cryin' out loud.

"With the exception of The Thing", you clearly have been watching the wrong movies.What about stuff like Cronenberg's The Fly, Aliens, Pumpkinhead, Day of the Dead, Predator, Fright Night, An American Werewolf in London, etc? Give me old school animatronic & prosthetic make-up FX any day.
