i'm white, should i even bother watching this?
question
shareNo, take your life instead. Stupid post.
shareHuman beings are human beings. I'm of mixed-race (African-American & Italian-American) and I love Tyler Perry's movies like I love "The Godfather" trilogy like I love "Fiddler On The Roof" like I love "The Joy Luck Club", the list goes on, etc.
You get my drift? I love films about any culture, any ethnicity, and any race as long as it's a good story. There are stories to tell from every perspective.
I'm a professional writer and poet *aspiring* and I write multicultural characters based on the same principles.

Skin colour doesn't come into it.
Born when she kissed me, died when she left me, lived whilst she loved me
I don't get why it matters. If it's a good story who cares if you're white or black or asian or mexican, etc... I just don't understand why people are so concerned with race.
"When I'm sad, I stop being sad and be awesome instead."
And this is why when people speak of a post-racial society, I laugh. Even something as small as a movie has white men asking themselves 'Is this too black to go see?' How stupid.
I'm a black woman and I love movies. I don't see 'white' or 'black' movies. I just go see good movies. I don't like many of Tyler Perry's movies because the Madea char has gotten a tad stale and the jokes, redundant and exploitative. That said, I liked Diary of a Mad Black Woman. Was entertaining enough.
One of my favorite movies is Gladiator! Is that a white movie? I don't think I asked myself that question ever when considering a movie and neither should you, kcmovieguy? Or should I call you kcwhitemovieguy? Noob.
And I'm out!

To the OP. According to the pc crowd here, you asked a racist question. I don't think you did. You have to keep one thing in mind. This place is teeming with pc liberals, white apologists, black race baiters..(children) pretty much anyone looking to find a reason to get offended. Many of the people who post here wake up in the morning with a mission to find a reason to get offended. It's really a sad way to live, but some people are sad. That is why they spend a lot of time on the internet. The fact is, Tyler Perry makes movies and shows that are geared towards black people (and there is nothing wrong with that). This is obvious. I mean dayamn. It isnt a politically correct thing to say, but it is definitely true. look at who he casts in his movies! look at the dialogue! I dare anyone to dispute this claim ive made. The guy found his target audience (black stereotypical culture) and he has found a way to make a buttload of money off it. he churns out *beep* movie after *beep* movie and his target audience eats it up as he continues to mock them all the way to the bank.
To answer your question... This movie and all of his movies suck donkey ballz. They are rated low for a reason. They are a form of the lowest grade of humor meant to make money off of a gullible group of fans that doesnt even realize it is being mocked. Yes. You probably are too "white" to enjoy this movie.
I'm white and I loved it. In fact I am watching it again on tv right now. It's a good film. It has comedic moments, drama, and romance all in one.
shareYES.
It isn't about black people. It is about people.
Remake the entire thing exactly but with a white cast and it is still a great movie and the point is still the same.
