Torturing the handicapped is awesome!

Was I the only one who laughed hysterically when the completely helpless and paralyzed Charles was beaten, starved, and almost drowned by his ex-wife? The part where she wanted him to stop breathing underwater had me in stitches! Sadism is HILARIOUS! Especially when the completely helpless handicapped person "deserves" it!

Don't you guys agree? Helen should compare notes with Dennis "BTK Killer" Rader. I think they'd have a lot in common.

I just saw the scene where Helen dumped Charles head first into the bath tub. Ouch!

Good thing she did not break his neck then and there.

I guess you have to have been an abused spouse to understand why that crap is funny....

Life is not about going to your grave regretting your life!!

I just watched the movie for the first time.

The scene is not supposed to be funny, or to be condoned. I cringed. Charles was a prick, and Helen had all the reason to be angry, but you almost have to start feeling sorry for him.

The point is that in the end, they both realize that they were wrong, Charles for hurting Helen, and Helen discovering that unforgiveness only hurts yourself.

Also, for both Charles and Brian's wife, they had to come to their own decision that they needed to change, and that is accomplished through God.

How about being an abused handicapped person? Will treating someone else like trash, the way the wife was, be funny then?

reply

Actually yes as a matter a fact I did find it hilarious for two reasons.

1. Her husband was a low down, horrible, cheating, bastard and a poor excuse of a human being. IT'S CALLED REVENGE HONEY IT'S A WONDERFUL THING.

2. IT'S A MOVIE FICTION!!! You take things way to seriously. However i'm not gonna lie given that oppertunity I would do the same damn thing because...HE DESERVED IT!!!

lol she let him off lightly if you ask me. He had way worse coming to him.

reply

I don't give a rat's ass, office; you don't take advantage of someone who can't fight back. She COULD fight back to everything he did, but she chose not to until after he left her.

i dam near stood up in cheered,if your handicapped im sorry about that, but dont piss off the handicap-able

It was't suppose to funny and the viewer wasn't suppose to be ok with it. The roles were reverse. He was the helpless one being tortured. What the viewer saw was a physical manifestation of the mental torture he put her through. It was only when he realized this that e changed his utlook and became a better person. She also had to realize that being angry all the time was no way to live. So, she also had to learn to let go of that anger and become a better person.
