Unnecessary Sexual Sugestion with the Purple Honey

I was shocked to see the young black guy lift some of the purple honey off of the hive with his finger, and insert it into dakota's mouth in what I thought was a totally unnecessary sexually suggestive move. The music probably swelled at that time also, further suggesting sexual suggestion. The kids were too young to even think of the oral implications let alone think of/perform a more traditional sexual act. Geesh! Totally out of character for Dakatoa and the young boy at that time in the film!

I was surprised myself, but not altogether shocked.

As for those referring you as a prude, you all apparently know nothing about what drives men wild. I'm not sure how old Zach was intended to be (he could drive, so 16 or older most likely), but the majority of men like having their fingers sucked on before and during sexual intercourse. Sounds crazy? Look it up, ask your spouse/boyfriend, or try it with your man. They love it. (Although, having him suck on your fingers is not really a turn-on for them, it seems). Having known that, perhaps we were able to see more sexuality in the scene than up.

However, I truly believe it was intended to be a coming-of-age scene, so it's forgivable.

What, Dakota has oral sex in that? With a black guy? And honey? Maybe this movie isn't so boring after all.

What I think is amazing here is the intolerance of your perception of the scene. I also thought it was inappropriate, but apparently - if other people run into people that don't think or perceive as they do, you are the one in the wrong and need to get your mind out of the gutter.

Anyway - that's that.

......God its not like he took his ding a ling out, dipped it and asked her to lick it off, it was a finger. I think it was cute and if a guyy did that for me I would find it very romantic.

It's part of life folks, even if they R too young, still.

IMDB as of late, sold out and became like City Data and about.com, worthless bureaucrats.

I thought the scene was lovely and extremely well done. To me it showed the coming of age and sweet innocence of young infatuation.

To the gentleman who was disgusted by scene's 'implication of oral sex', I say he should evaluate his own psyche.

Truth and beauty are not the only things in the eye of the beholder.

You are crazy there is no sexual suggestions here to relate to oral sex. That is a accepted thought in this day an age. Sex wasn't as freely discussed as it is now... There is sexual tension between two teenagers... Neither of them were aware of it until he put his finger in her mouth... An the scene for that reason is highly relevant... As we get the first glimpse of their forbidden feelings ...

Bullseye. Even I thought it was over the top and totally unnecessary. I think that is one of the very few things that the film got wrong than the book. Otherwise, the film was splendid.
