Maggie/Riggs/Meredith

What are everyone's thoughts on this inevitable triangle they're setting up?

Quite frankly, I hate it. It seems juvenile and early 2000s to even have a love triangle, especially one that's already marred by lies/secrecy (thanks to Meredith, who wasted the perfect opportunity to come clean at the very beginning, & will now have to face a sh-tstorm when things actually heat up).

Also, I seem to be in the minority on this one, but I loathe Riggs and think he has absolutely no charm or chemistry with Meredith. I find him more tolerable when he's with Maggie, acting as a *normal* adult, rather than the fool he is around Meredith.

I know they're paralleling him to Derek, with his 'cutesy' smugness and his confidence in her feelings for him, him being persistent and consistent. But the plot/character doesn't have the same charisma that Dempsey put into Derek, so it's tedious and it makes me want to go in there and say back the hell off.

All in all, I love Maggie and see her with Riggs more than I do him with Mer bc their relationship is already making me nauseous and frustrated.

A rose is just a rose.

I don't care for Riggs either and see the same smugness and yes he is better suited for Maggie, but I don't care for her either.

And so stupid not to have Meredith not say anything. Waiting to tell is going to make it worse and have people want to hate Meredith for either leading Riggs on or lying to her sister. Maggie will either walk in on them or overhear a conversation and then it will be you lied to me again, waaa waaa

I hate the love triangle and I feel like its going to be a totally predictable story.
Mer and Riggs flirt, "I'll tell Maggie soon enough!", Maggie still pines (why she's pining I still don't fully understand), Meredith and Riggs will be hooking up and walked in on by Maggie, cue the inevitable "I can't believe you did that, I'm your sister", she'll have a heart to heart with Amelia or Alex who will be like "Mer hasn't been happy like this in a long time", yadda yadda yadda Maggie will be okay with it. Mer should've just told her right off the bat, and it feels really forced that she didn't, because with the way Maggie's character acts, she probably would've been okay with it if not a little disappointed, because its not like she and Riggs have dated or anything. But now that its a lie it'll be a big deal.

I will say though, while I will say that I'm a huge MerDer fan -they had an amazing chemistry that I absolutely love - I don't hate her with Riggs. I can see they're trying to make him like early Derek, which I could do without, but I think they play off each other well. Also, we all knew she was going to be paired with someone EVENTUALLY, and I'd rather it him that someone else already on the show because what are the male lead options otherwise? She can't be with Owen because he's married now and even if he wasn't, he's Cristina's ex husband, and even if he wasn't, he was a good friend of Derek's so it would be weird. I will never understand why people want Meredith and Alex together because they seem like siblings to me and anything more would be weird, so (for me at least) he's off the table. Ben, married. Deluca, Maggie's ex (plus he seems very immature for someone as intense as Meredith). Webber, well I won't even go into why that's gross haha. At least they didn't shoehorn her in with someone she'd be all wrong for, who has a history with her or Derek, or who is like a brother or father to her.

I feel the same way. I think it makes Meredith seem really bad. Would she really treat her sister this way? I doubt it.

reply

Love triangles are always annoying.

Meredith is playing her sister for a fool and it's very uncool. Like, I can accept that Riggs is not that into Maggie (even though there was a natural chemistry there from the start), but lying to her about it is just cruel.

"What race are you? If you don't tell me I'll just...assume the worst."

reply

Someone who agrees about the natural chemistry! Here, here
I also think Maggie and Riggs, formerly, shared a nice dynamic. Up until he randomly slept with Mer, I actually wanted Maggie and him to get together because I liked their relationship last season.

reply

Totally agree. I hope Shonda reads this !

Worst story line ever! Hate it so much. I skip almost all scenes focusing on the stupid love triangle. Meredith should've just told Maggie the truth. It's not like Riggs is the love of her life or something, it's just a crush! I feel like I'm watching a high school drama. I don't care who Riggs end up with, I don't like Maggie or Meredith all that much but just pair him up with someone and be done with it! The whole thing feels really forced and unnecessary.

reply

It's horrible. I keep hoping Maggie will find out on her own about it. Meredith should should burst her bubble already.

Stay single and happy my friends
