Zathura is an awful piece of crap
This movie is so boring that I rather sit trough Message in a bottle rather than see this again!

shareI would rather see Zathura again than see that overly pious, clearly not romantic pile of film. Dack Shepherd made me believe he was worth watching.

I just watched it...it was actually pretty good. Don't know what movie you saw...
shareI thought it was great.
It had Josh Hutcherson in it, which made it even more amazing!
Such a great actor!
Wish i could be like him ^^
Josh is a pretty terrible actor.
The participant's perspectives are clouded while the bystander's views are clear.share
yea it was amazing i just saw it for the first time today and josh is a totaly hotty=]
shareI actually had some hope for Zathura when I saw that a) Tim Robbins was in it and b) It was a "sequel" of sorts to Jumanji, which I enjoyed.
Little did I know that Tim Robbins spends a token five seconds in it, and that it bears no resemblance to Jumanji other than the general plot premise. After Tim Robbins disappeared, so did any hope for Zathura.
Without going into it too much, Zathura is so awful it's now something of a benchmark for me, for terrible movies that I see. Anything that's bad enough that I want to walk out halfway through (a rare occurence) gets compared to Zathura for the honour of becoming the worst film I've ever seen in its endirity.
Yeah, Mr Robbins is the SOLE Reason it's in my collection, I have to wonder why he even took a what's little more then a BIT role when he could have any role he WANTED
sharetyranith:
You have a very low benchmark for bad films. Try watching films like Ski School, or Night of the Living Dead 3D, then you'll know what a bad film is.
syonack:
As an actor, he was probably friends with someone involved in the production (a producer, or possibly director Jon Favreau), and seeing as it IS a bit part, he wasn't forced to devote weeks (or even months) to production, and instead got to do his scenes in just a week or so, between other movies (probably between The Life of Words and Catch A Fire).
I would say that it is an awful piece of crap just based on it not being an original idea - it's just like Jumanji. They should have tried to make this the sequel.
shareEver since my boys have been born, I've kinda seen films through their eyes. So, strangley enough, I loved this film. So what if it's like Jumanji, that's equally a great film, it just has the same premise.
It's like saying Westworld is like Jurrasic Park because it's both about theme park that goes wrong or Point Break is just like the Fast and the furious because an undercover cop befriend the very people he's after.
Well, both my kids and I enjoyed it!
This movie is not so good. I stopped caring halfway through, and it became a chore to watch. But I had high expectations after Jumanji, which is far more enjoyable, and one of my favourites :)
shareOne-look into the author who wrote the books, Jumanji and Zathura....Zathura is technically the sequel to Jumanji
Two-instead of complaining about this movie, just don't watch it. It seems a simple enough solution to that problem.
I completely agree that it's crap. I only saw the last 20 minutes on HBO and the kids had zero talent. At least the studio workers kept busy building the props.
shareFor me it's jumanji without the fun. The astronaut does everything because the boys are boring, just able to shout and the girl is plain stupid. Except for the father no character is likeable and their adventures are not very interesting, as there is nothing really going on except :
(shouting)
- it's your turn to play !
- No, I don't want to play !
- yes, let's play now !
- No ! I don't want to play !
- I don't like you !
- I told you I am sorry !
- You are cheating !
- No, I'm not cheating !
Sometimes, 1hour and 43 minutes is a very long time. perhaps not an awful piece of crap, but definitely not a good movie.
yeah. just watch jumanji. same thing, but better
shareI agree this movie was terrible.
Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.
