I haven't posted on IMDB in more than a year. After watching this movie I was compelled to warn people against this movie. While the story is interesting, the filmmakers completely dropped the ball. The screenplay and directing are embarrassing and are an insult to the actual people involved in the story and to the audience. Stay the hell away from this movie! It's a two out of ten. Completely uninspiring and redundant. Waste of my time!

shareI have no idea why people would be against this movie. Is was wonderfully done and so inspiering! I cried at the end because the story was so beautiful! It really does make you count your blessings in life. I recommend this movie to anybody who needs a little lift put into thier step.

i thought it was wonderful..and it didt embarass any of the family! im related to bub ryan...and my aunt was SO happy when she found out a movie was being made...it made the ryan family happy...not insulted!
shareI thought this movie was very inspiring with the pluckiness of Evelyn Ryan. She was a strong and very selfless woman who put her family first no matter what the cost. She was witty, intelligent, and talented, and she did whatever she could in a bad situation.
By the way, I cried when she won her last big contest, and she was able to reclaim ownership of her home.

Okay, you're probably not a moron. I give you credit for watching it in the first place. However, I suggest sticking with your favorites. You know, "Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd" or "Bad Boys II." So get out your Sony BetaMax® and go at it!
I just saw this film last night for the first time. I was channel surfing and came across it, figured what the hell, I will give it a few minutes...I was hooked. This is a very inspirational movie and VERY well acted. I personally think Ellary Porterfield's performance as Tuff Ryan was amazing! This girl is a great talent and will be a star someday in my opinion.

This was a good movie. I liked that it was based on a real family. Julianne Moore was wonderful as Evelyn Ryan. a very nice movie.

I saw this channel surfing, like so many others. I have to say it was completley inspiring and heartfelt. No other movie has ever made me feel so lazy and un-motivated. It really shows you how much a person can go through. No other movie has touched me as deeply, the fact that it's a true a story just adds to the film. Brilliant.

well to just get home from working all night, and turn on the tv and watching this movie sort of half sleep Ill still say that the movie was good, very good acting by julienne, and really a good movie overall.
