Sorry to ppl who liked it but i was SO BORED!

Seriously he only reason I watched it from beginning to end was because I was after hearing so much hype about it "its unbelievably good""its amazing!" but it didnt get any better I stayed bored out of my mind.
I was really really bored with it, I dont know about anyone else but I was pretty dissapointed.

reply

agree!

reply

Yeah really boring! I hoped it would have a twist at the end, i didn't realize it was based on a true story.

This is a movie database not fanbase. Please, I'm getting so sick of comments like noagenda's. Seriously though, back on topic, the movie was so boring I almost feel asleep. Thanks to the pizza and hot wings though, I actually sat through the whole movie.

reply

Back at you MetalgearSldSnk. This is a movie database not a pissy little blog.

If someone wants to critique a film, than give some critique. I'm sick of comments like "this is the worst film ever," or "I was so bored I almost feel (sic) asleep."

If you prefer shoot 'em ups, blow 'em ups, and/or slashers, by all means indulge yourself. Leave the psychological dramas to those of us who find them entertaining.

noagenda, seriously, what I meant and it still hold meaning is that in this movie database who gives a sh!t what you talk about as long as its on-topic with the movie. You are just a facist that has no life trying to patrol a movie database...

As for my critique, the movie was just very slow paced, and the characters were unlikeable. What makes you think that just because a movie has a bunch of talking and slow witted dialogue that its supposed to be the greatest movie ever. Join a boring film fanclub because I like all kinds of movies, but this movie seriously almost put me to sleep.

reply

Yes. This was one of the only two movies I just couldn't help myself but to sleep. I even tried TWICE. lol

And for your "Critique", here's why: It was horribly paced at the beginning and the lack of a twist, or perhaps something intriguing to keep you going, made this film very booring.

reply

And I thought my attention span was low.

Sorry you thought it was boring. I am easily bored but this film has an undercurrent of tension running through it and I got through it in one sitting. I honestly enjoyed it.

reply

Oh come on people! Spying doesn't mean you will get caught and have to go bang bang!
It was a GREAT movie!

I think the reason that these posters and I found this "boring" was the piss-poor editing, Ryan Phillipe's lack of emotional range and the director's lack of visual style. The camera work and production design was so bland that it was sleep inducing. This project should have been handed to Paul Greengrass or David Fincher who did an amazing job with Zodiac, another tense, dialogue driven thriller. This movie has substance but lacks style, and you need both to make a good film.

NO, YOU IS DEFINITELY SUCK!
See? I can type like a moron, too.

its a true story about a paranoid beauracrat, with a fascinating twisted psyche. i dont know why it would need all kinds of flash and cinematography and "twists". I've seen it 3 times. Oh well.

Because it's a film, not a documentary. A visual art medium. It needs to have atmosphere, tonal control, etc.

PS I didn't say it needed "twists".

I have not seen Breach yet even though I think the story sounds fascinating and I liked Billy Ray's Shattered Glass, his first directional effort.

I'm hesitant because Ryan Phillippe has the lead role, who I'm not surprised is one of the problems you had with the film. Going from past work, I feel he lacks gravitas and has an inability to transform himself into a character. I just see an actor trying to act, there is no sense of believability.

But I hear Chris Cooper is masterful in this. So I'm torn.

reply

Well, ednorton, I guess we'll have to disagree. I've liked Ryan in several roles but even I admit that this role was transformative for him. I think it was the first time that some people took a second look at him as an actor. He is very good here. If Chris Cooper wasn't playing off such a solid performance, his performance would have felt flat. As it is, they play perfectly against each other with the extra bonus of Laura Linney who is pitch perfect as Ryan's mentor.

I can safely recommend this film to anyone who enjoys an out of the norm spy film and intense psychological drama.

But Chris Cooper never fails to impress.

Yeah the cast is made up of some very talented actors such as Cooper, Linney and Haysbert. It's too bad they couldn't find a lead actor of equal talent. Oh well you're not always going to like everyone cast.

reply

Why don't you try watching it and then comment? Ryan Phillippe is excellent in this movie and holds his own with Cooper and Linney. I thought it was a fascinating spy movie even if some liberties taken with the story.

reply

you pretentious fool, shut up and go watch
the movie!

reply

i too heard it was good...but der was nothin interestin in it..Glad i din sleep..

reply

Its a pretty good movie! But I was bored by it, it is very slow. Good thing I was eating my dinner while watching this so I didn't fall asleep either.

reply

When did everyone get such a boner for twist endings? Yeah, I usually think they're cool, too, but damn -- complaining because a movie doesn't have one? That's just stupid.

Some movies exist to tell stories, and if they do it right (like Breach), it's much more satisfying that any twist ending.

Not to mention -- there's this little thing called SUSPENSE that only occurs when you know what is going to happen, and it is one of the most thrilling parts of a movie. Think of "Rear Window", for instance, which is one of the most suspenseful movies ever but is called "too slow and predictable" by people who know nothing about movies.

Yep, me too - bored brainless to be honest. I only watched it because the always dependable (and always handsome) Bruce Davison was in it, but come on, he was in it for all of three minutes if that!!! What a waste of this talented and brilliant actor, couldn't they have given him a better role, ie a bigger one. Getting so fed up of buying movies with him in when he only makes what can only be called a 'cameo.' Maybe he didn't want a bigger role but he sure as hell shoulda had one imho! This one was on tv just now so thankfully, I won't be buying it, sorry Bruce but you deserve MUCH better than this.

Well, we're all entitled to our opinions and tastes. Just like some people found this film boring for the lack of action and its length of time, I found it highly interesting and a delight to watch.
So sorry you didn't enjoy the film. I'd recommend you investigating about what a film is about and reading the opinions of the people posted that way I have some feedback about what I'm going to watch, it helps me decide about what movie I am going to pay to watch, after all $12 is a lot for a single movie ticket.
