Very good movie, totally misleading trailer

When I saw this movie I thought it was going to be a Chronicles of Narnia-type movie and I kept waiting for them to "cross into" Narnia. As the movie passed I thought, "they're running out of time, what's going on here?" Needless to say I was totally blindsided by Leslie's death. I was kind of in shock for the rest of the movie until the end when Jess helps his little sister cross into Terabithia and that was cathartic for me. Still I wasn't sure how I felt about the movie until I reflected on it some more and now I realize it was very good.

I would've probably enjoyed the movie more AS I was watching it without the expectations from the trailer. I should watch it again.

Did anyone else feel this way?

Yep you're right about the misleading trailer.

I bought the DVD expecting nothing then my Mom ruined it for me by saying a Spoiler..

"Haha!" - Nelson Muntz ... pointing at you. :)

Tricking children into watching a well-written movie. I think that's great!

" I was totally blindsided (sic) by Leslie's death."

So was I. Just now, dickwad.

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings.

One of the best movies I've ever seen.

I watched it with no preference as to it being a fantasy or a 'normal' movie though. I was surprised that it wasn't sci-fi at all...but like I say, I didn't mind, because I like all kinds of movies. So I loved it. It was done really well. But I can see how little kids or people expecting something else would be disappointed.

But the fact that we're expecting sci-fi really made Leslie's death very unexpected. I like surprises though, so yeah, great movie.

^Dude it's NOT sci-fi, it's just fantasy. sci-fi means science fiction, meaning science that doesn't exist yet. Fantasy is just fantasy about magical things. it's not sci-fi.

trailers are becoming evil, commercialism is terrible, many are spoilers.

i mostly will not be able to answer your reply, since marissa mayer hacked my email, no notification

Yeah, this movie needed a better trailer.

reply

Yes, it was completely misleading, a lot of people were expecting it to be like Narnia, and I think that was the intention behind the trailer. Very sneaky.

No. It was not cathartic; it was meaningless. It was a bunch of liars lecturing me on how to grieve, and for how long, in what five-step sequence. It was Narnia without the Narnia, which is to say: it was nothing.
