Did this movie make you cry?

I'm not one to really cry while watching a film but it happens every once and awhile. I wrote up this discussion of the handful of films that have done it to me in my life. I remember watching the made for tv version of this as a child and it hit me pretty hard. I wondering if the updated version could still get e today as an adult?

Probably I say you should wacth. As you said in your Blog, people say the remake is better and I agree. however the impact might be different because you all ready know what is going to happen.

It made me BAWL my eyes out for like two hours. Definitely one of the movies that has hit me the hardest. However, I had no idea what it was really about. All I saw was the trailer, so I wasn't expecting it.

The only reason the 2007 movie didn't make me cry was because I was well familiar with the book and knew what was going to happen. On the other hand, if the 1985 made-for-TV version made you cry, AnnaSophia Robb's version of Leslie Burke in the 2007 movie is infinitely more loveable and her departure that much more heartbreaking than Julie Beaulieu's 1985 version.

I read this book as a kid many time and cried every time I did. I knew if the movie didn't make me cry, then it was falling short. I was in tears, I thought it was excellent. I dont think I have ever seen the '85 version, but I think this movie did a great job keeping true to the book.

Is this not a Disney film? Because we do not see Disney logo in the opening of the film?

reply

Yes, almost makes me cry. I've been revisiting films, and the following made me really sad: Charlotte's Web, Bridge to Terabithia, An American Tail, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

Yeah, as others have mentioned, it hit me hard. I cry in movies and video games, but not as uncontrollable as that. ;(

I'm a real cry baby when it comes to movies. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Grave of the Fireflies, Listen to Your Heart, If Only, and even A Walk to Remember... those are only some of those that really kept me bawling for hours and days...

I had no expectations with this one, had no idea what it was about and I'm 29. I quite liked it... but no, I didn't cry. I don't know... I think I was somewhat close to it, but it didn't really get me there. I don't know what to blame for that... the other movies I've seen, the fact that I didn't know enough about this one, or maybe my age... but no.

There's more to attraction than meets the eye.

The book made me cry as a kid. Only this and Where the Red Fern Grows did. The other movie to do it was "My Girl", of all things.
