Hollywood knows nothing about guns!!!

there was scene in this movie where one of the attacking policeman pumps his shotgun before he shoots it, well that would have ejected the unfired shell, I see it all the time in hollywood movies, I cant figure out if they know it is unrealistic and just want it for effect, or if they really dont know what they are doing. there was scene in the movie "Albino Alligator" where the cops actually pumped there shotguns twice after they loaded them, I just broke out lauging it was so retarted.

in reality, if somebody is planning on using a gun, they already have it ready to fire , with a live round in the chamber , before they enter the situation.

You never know, the shotgun could have been unpumped when he pumped it, but I also believe it's there just for effect. I'm pretty good at recognizing guns, and I just couldn't figure out what the hell that gun Laurence Fishburne had was...it looked like a G36C but I just couldn't tell. Anyone like to enlighten me??

I realy don't know what brand of gun Larry Fishbourne uses in that particular scene. I've just finished watchin that version of Assault oP13 (I bought a dvd some months ago just to watch it and compare it with Carpenter's 1976 original). Then I went to good old IMDb to see some details, then I went to forum... Now I'm impressed (and in a way scared) by people's knowledge of guns and ammo. They know it beter than film and movie/hollywood logic. And I've been in army for a year (peace time) and afterwards for a coupple of forthnights in real war. Go figure...
Cheers everyone! Peace, brothers! Have a smoke (noticed a pun?). *beep* the guns. Unless you really need them. And know how to use them. If you're living normal life, live the guns to Hollywood.

The majority of the assault weapons brought to the precinct by the dirty cops are Sig SG551-swat's tacticooled to the max so they look cool in the movies.

"Phone Booth" explains it well:

"You know like in the movies just as the good guy is about to kill the bad guy, he cocks his gun. Now why didn't he have it cocked? Because that sound is scary."

My mule don't like people laughing. Gets the crazy idea you're laughing at him.

hahaha, I saw this too. Oh and the other one, that one prisoner with the black hair, I forget his name. The real spazzy one, right before they get into the first standoff inside, and point their guns at each other, he pulls the slide on that submachine gun like 4 times, once for each time the camera returns to his position. Of course Hollywood knows nothing of guns, they're blatantly anti-gun and yet they use them all the time to make money, same with 80% of actors. Ethan Hawke, Eric Bana, Sylvester Stallone, have all made blatant anti-gun remarks about limiting their sale to honest legal citizens. And yet each one has use guns numerous times, especially Stallone, but Bana played Hoot in Blackhawk Down and Hawke played Jake in this and Jake in Training Day.
