One of the most underrated American Films of the last 10 years.

Skeleton Key has some serious mojo going on, and too many people expected something else from it.

What a sad, sad shame.

This film has 7/10 directing, 8/10 acting, and absolutely, no question about it, 10/10 plotting. Probably the greatest American supernatural thriller since The Sixth Sense.

What a pity it's sitting here on IMDB with a score under 7. Embarrassing, actually.

I agree. Sadly, I missed it when it came out in the theaters. This movie should have been released around Halloween. An underrated film with good acting, great storyline and a clever twist at the end.

I saw this in the movies as a whim to get out of the heat and into the air conditioning. It brings to mind the psycho biddie thrillers of the 60's with Gena Rowlands doing the obligatory psycho biddie role, and I thouroughly enjoyed this.

Great suspense with twists at every turn with a great back story which brings you to the present and the ultimate twist you did not see coming.

Swing away, Merrill....Merrill, swing away...

I fully agree. It's a superb movie: great atmosphere and magnificent performances.

It’s a great movie. People rate it lower because it made them use their brains too much and they were probably expecting straight mindless horror from the trailer. 8.5 out of 10 for me.

i liked it, but i dnt pretend it aint derivative

This is a brilliant film. So many people have never heard of it.

It's even more shocking the second time you watch it as you have the knowledge of what really happened at the party in the flashback, which was already distressing to being with.

I watch it every few years. Definitely One of my favourite horror films.

It's been a while since I last watched it and my memory is hazy on the specifics, but I'll agree that it's an underrated horror film. It's story feels fresh and original, the production design is quite good, it's well-cast and acted and Iain Softley did a fine job as director.

In fact, I only saw this movie because Softley was the director. He also directed Hackers in the 90s and I loved that movie and wanted to see what his new project was all about.

Saw it a few years ago. Absolutely floored me. Brilliantly creepy slow build to one of the best horror film endings of all time. Ehren Kruger seriously should've gotten a Best Screenplay nomination.

Yeah I watched this a couple years ago for the first time since it came out. Didn't remember much about it, which I thought was pretty telling of its quality. It came out in the wake of the Ring and was probably a knock off like movie. I was pretty surprised by how good it actually was.

I had a similar experience. I saw this years ago, thought it was decent enough and only rewatched it for the first time last night. I was impressed with the quality of the film.

It helps that I had completely bastardized the twist in my memory bank. I thought this was rift of The Others (2001). Was great to be able to re-experience the twist as if it were a first time viewing.

Agree with OP.

Underrated film. Good production values and acting across the board with a great story built up with a lot of mystery and revelations.
