the truth

I don't understand why these women wanted to work in a place that was dominated by men and then have the nerve to complain about being harassed! They knew full well what they were walking into and they should have expected it. I don't feel sorry for them at all! Those women wanted to be harassed just so they could scream "SEXUAL HARASSMENT" and try to get some easy money ($3.5 million).I can't believe people talk about how brave and courageous these women were. All they did was pave the way for more women to share their sad stories and try and get their share of harassment money. If things keep going this way a man won't even be able to look at a woman! Those women didn't deserve one cent of the money they got. From my point of view I would love to work at a place where women sexually harassed me all day! You sure wouldn't hear me complaining.

So you're basically saying it's common practice among male co-workers to call each other the male equivalent of "slut" (and worse), smear excrements on their bathroom walls, grab each other by the crotch, choke each other, masturbate onto each others clothes, etc., etc. It's all in good fun, really, and women working in such places just need to develop a sense of humor.

Wow. I'm not easily offended but your last comment is pretty disgusting.
Sexual harrassment is UNWANTED sexual advances. It's not sexual harrassment if it's consentual.
Sexual harrassment is degrading and humilating, not something to get off on.

Well, ok, the rest of your post is disguting, as well. The NERVE of those women for not wanting to be groped and called filthy names!!! Hey man, everyone needs to make a living...and since a lady makes less than a man, if she's the sole breadwinner, she MIGHT have to work in a "man's" job to make enough to support her kids! She doesn't deserve flack for that. What a gross thought.

I know this thread has been dead for awhile but I feel the need to respond to one of the comments coal-country made about the women involved in the Jensen v. Eveleth Mines case. He states that "those women wanted to be harassed just so they could scream "Sexual Harassment" and try to get some easy money ($3.5 million)."

It's apparent that he had never actually looked into the circumstances of the case. The only thing Lois Jensen was asking for when she started the litigation was for the company to put a sexual harassment policy in place and about $5,000 to pay for some of the medical expenses that she had incurred (therapy, etc.,). If the company had simply done this the litigation would not have continued.

Because the company refused to take such a simple action, the women suffered for ten years trying to work towards a resolution. Lois received less than $1 million for her claims (even though they were far more egregious than other claims at the time that routinely received much more).

If the company had simply put a policy in place and hadn't turned their backs while the women were being treated so horribly, the litigation wouldn't have gone on (but it was a good thing it did for other women's sakes). These were not money hungry women and none of them asked to be harassed.

The first poster simply lacks empathy.

In order for him to experience some sort of empathy might occur if he were put in that situation. He states" Id love to go to work with all kinds of women groping me"

Of course he would.

Perhaps a more suitable situation might be if you were say, sent to prison. I hear a lot of unwelcome groping and other such similar behavior goes on there.
Complaints to the warden or guards go ignored.
Perhaps daily stress from co-workers could be equatable to say being new or left out in prison for any possible reason.

When a lack empathy occurs for some else that may be suffering the cure is only a matter of time.

Cheese and Rice that's a lot of posting! I'm only logging on because I just watched the movie on T.V.

I find it humorous that a simple movie message board becomes a vehicle of heated debates. Some of those posts were longer than "War and Peace". Sheesh!

I heard Larry the Cable Guy applied for a job pole dancing at Spearmint Rhinos. You think they'll hire him?

Prior to his death, Andre the Giant desired employment cleaning crawl spaces and ventilation systems in small aircraft.

Like it or not, we all come in different shapes and sizes.

BUT, whatever line of work we are best suited for or what lifestyle we choose...

NOBODY deserves to be treated like that at work, at home, in line at Starbucks, yadda yadda yadda.

they had to do it because of the reason you have to work. to earn money. period. and even if they didn't "have" to then they should have the freedom to do so if they wish.

"Those women didn't deserve one cent of the money they got...."

"those women" are just like your mother, your grandmother, your sister, your aut, your daughter. a woman gave life to you and just because of that if nothing else you should respect "those women" and all the women.

'"Those women didn't deserve one cent of the money they got...." '

What the hell! They deserve a lot more than that. More so because they have to go through the extra horrible burden of being harrassed. It's so much harder for them than for those jerks. Those jerks weren't the ones being harrassed.

I bet you don't understand why black people would want to work in white dominated work places, or why Jewish people might not want to be exterminated, or why slavery should not be legal....

What an ASS! Women have a right to respect, dignity and freedom from fear in ANY place, whether in the workplace, at home, wherever!

Nice, show us how ignorant you actually are, the equivalent of a female harassing you all day would entail her flicking your balls whenever she felt like it, calling you a homo, cussing your mother out, telling you how small your dick is...

why? because sexual harassment has NOTHING to do with sex and EVERYTHING to do with violation. Have you ever had someone break into your house/home before...know that aweful feeling of rage, anger and despair you feel that all someone has to do is step into your front door without your permission to feel like you have been violated? Well THAT is what sexual harassment feels like multiplied by 100 because it is your own body.

And before you say such pathetic things, there was NO PRECIDENT for sexual harassment before this case, therefore there was little chance of them ever winning...kinda like William Wilberforce (if you have the faintest clue who that is)so you make absolutely NO VALID POINTS...

One day, someone will violate you, make you feel like the most worthless thing in the whole world and you can bet that very few people will actually care!
