To me, easily the best HS football movie and one of the best football movies ever made.

Not sure it’s underrated. It was a fairly big success critically and commercially.

Agreed. The scene of Booby and his uncle in the car is what solidified that for me. I have yet to see a better portrayal of emotional pain kids suffer from sports.

I think this movie gets overshadowed by the series since the TV show is one of the best of all time.

Totally agree that it's very underrated. It's actually my favorite sports movie.
