Don, because he actually seemed like a teenager and not like the 20-something adult Kitsch was. Kitsch is great but he looked WAY too old to be in high school.

Also loved the father/son dynamic and we didn't really get it in the TV show. Which I did love, BTW.

In all seriousness, Garrett Hedlund looked more like a teenager than Taylor Kitsch although Riggins seemed like he had a rough life, so him looking older than everyone else kinda fits.
