So I'm re-watching the series and just now realized now much I dislike Pam in the early seasons. She clearly leads on Jim and when he expresses any level of feelings for her she gets all offended and oblivious when she spends half of her time flirting with him. Plus she totally shrinks around him when Roy comes around as if they don't spend all day talking and what not. Does anyone else feel this way or is it just me??
I hated Pam pre and during Jim. Not hated. She was my least favorite character. The same things she did before Jim she did with him as well. It was like her natural temperament was to be a passive aggressive shrew.
I hated first seasons Pam with a passion, only reason because i "know her" far too personally. The situation Jim was in with Pam in the first three seasons is almost identical to what I've been through at one point in my life. I got rid of her and in all honestly so should have Jim.
I think meek Pam was cuter .... not to mention Jenna Fischer was hotter the younger she was (not that she isn't still hot later on - just much more early on) and I wasn't a fan of snarky, moral-ish Pam.
Jenna Fischer mentioned in an interview she was shocked to hear fans didn't like the later, "strong Pam" she became. But what she thinks was 'strong' was more 'holier - than - though' and overly opinionated. She was a version of Angela and we were supposed to think she was strong for this?? Deciding she wanted to be more than a secretary in life, and leaving Roy because he was a douchebag and treated her like crap is all good. For those 'strengths' I do think she was more likable. But later on, seasons 5/6 to the end, she was more annoying than strong.
Still love her and Jim together though. The way he feels about Pam is how I want my relationship with my wife to be. I started re-watching the seasons because I wanted to remember how Jim felt towards Pam because I feel that way towards my 'Pam' and it feels great to watch and re-watch those episodes, especially the early seasons!
Agreed. I have always hated the link Pam utters in WUPHF, "I married Jim, I did my part for the nice guy" π. As if it wasn't obvious that Jim was an upgrade and better than she could get. He traded down to be with her; think Katy and Karen. Sure, I wanted them to end up together because they were written that way and it works, but in terms of looks, she was the downgrade. She should have considered herself lucky instead of such a prize. I think that was elected in her character as the show progressed, the fact that she thought she was above everyone and like she was a hot tamale. Pam, after Jim, slowly became an annoying bitch. Even in the fact that he always backed her dreams regardless of how she would quit everything, but when it came down to supporting Jim's dream, it became all about her and her comfort zone. She was pretty selfish. Hated her during tat time. Was definitely #teamJim when the troubles between them were going down. She redeemed herself afterwards, but she still had a long period of being insufferable.
I've seen your responses to various posters, and it's as if you lie in wait so you can quickly come to some imaginary defense. I love the show as much, I watch it nearly every day, but they are characters on a show-not real life. Get over yourself. And yes, I stand by my comment of him trading down. I loved them as a couple on the show, but she was a mousey, plain Jane, uninteresting character, who only became interesting because of the relationship with Jim. Maybe you should take a break a break from this forum since it seems like you're really invested in what other people think, mainly if it's on contradiction to what you believe. There's no real Dunder Mifflin. So calm down.
But you're discussing the show in the same way as you think I'm doing, and then come up with comments such as it's not real life, get over yourself and DM didn't exist, you just did it in that post. You're contradicting yourself. She was written as a "plain Jane" uninteresting, type on purpose. Jim wasn't really that interesting either and was hardly a male model. They BOTH became interesting because of their interactions, even so remaining relatively normal, one reason why the relationship story worked so well. Trading down how???? I'm not on this forum that much anymore and aren't you supposed to be interested in what people think. There's no real DM. So calm down.
You're repeating my words about Dunder Mifflin to being real to me? Lol, ok.
Jim wasn't interesting and no, he was not a male model, but he was a better catch than Pam. She brought nothing to the table. For the sake of the show, and how it was written or them to be soul mates, it worked. As stand alone characters they were both very blah, but my opinion stands. She was so much more boring, in her life and even to look at at, than Jim. It's my opinion. No one's going to change it and I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion either. So the debate in unnecessary. Someone asked a question, I offered my opinion, and you decided to reply to me. I'm uninterested in your opinion or continuing a dialogue. Thanks for stopping by. π
What I find funny about his exchange is that you seem to take this so personally. She's not real, dude. She was a character on a show. Still, YES, Pam was a downgrade. Just because she was doesn't make it a bad thing. It's somewhat realistic that he fell for the plain jane woman who he had a connection with, but the truth is, she kind of sucked. She was cute, sure, but she was also: boring, with no ambition, uninteresting, and just utterly blah. She was so,so blah. I don't know if you relate to her so you take it to heart, or if you have a loved one that's very Pam and it hurts your feelings, but whatever it is, work that out. They're not real people. She was written to be blah.
That being said, let's just agree to disagree. You like her and think she's the best thing since chunky peanut butter - I think she needed a better personality that didn't turn into a bitch once she gained her confidence after finally getting together with Jim.
P.S. Thanks for pointing out the typo. I fixed it π Typing on a cell phone can be difficult once auto-correct kicks. It was funny though! Now all I can picture is an onion with long, skinny legs, wearing converse and socks that are too big for him.
There again, you tell me she's not real and then you proceed to discuss her if she is real. You're one confused puppy. I know she or any of the characters are real as do other people, but still comment on the characters. Then you proceed to describe her EXACTLY how she was written. Yes she was plain, boring, had no ambition etc., that was the writers' intention. I don't take it personally I just baulk when somebody utter posts nonsense. Don't tell me to work things out you arrogant piece of sh!t. Oh and I hate chunky peanut butter.
Tsk tsk. Resorting to name calling because I hurt your wittle feewings? I was trying to keep it somewhat amicable, even though I understand some people, such as yourself, take these things so seriously, and take every contrary opinion as a personal attack. As far as me posting "utter nonsense" - it's none of your f*ucking business what I post and there is no need for you to HAVE to reply. Yet, here you are. I repeat, SEEK THERAPY AND WORK THINGS OUT. Live your life, child. There's more to it than sleeping in momma's basement & suckling on your momma's teet.
I'm dismissing you, you little *beep* Go lie on your cot and have sex with the blow-up doll that has Pam's face taped to it (we know you have one, you sly dog!). Refrain from addressing me, although I know it will be difficult considering this massive boner you have for me. You bore me. π΄
As a matter of fact, I'll do you a favor and allow you to have the last word. I have a feeling that it'll make your day π
I knew it, provoke someone enough and the real person emerges. It works every time. I've seen c unts like you before on forums. There all peaches and cream to begin with, but give them enough rope and they'll hang themselves. I could easily report you for all those "insults" ξ¦ξ¦, but as you obviously haven't a clue how to insult properly I'll let you off this time. "Momma's basement", I'm mean really that's grade school level insulting. Thank you so much for letting me have the last word sweetheart. God did it make my day. Cheers big ears.
