Were Jim and Pam the only unlikable characters?

i hated how they constantly harassed Dwight and looked down on virtually everyone in the office.

they seriously treated Dwight badly and made fun of virtually everything he said or did. Dwight did some funny things but they provoked him into doing many of those things

they made fun of Dwight and Angela being together. i remember them laughing and i think they used the word "gross" even but i may be mistaken. anyway, they said some harsh things about them

they made fun of Michael and Jan being together saying some rude things about them to

Jim dumped Katy rather abruptly and just walks away from her leaving her stunned during the episode "Booze Cruise"

i think he dumped Karen kind of abruptly to while in New York City

i think the other characters on the show were genuinely decent people but Jim and Pam seem rather smug, arrogant and judgemental of everyone.

the worst thing is they do all this knowing they are being recorded and don't even care that someday the people they are putting down may actually watch this footage from the documentary and feel hurt

all the characters have their quirks so maybe Jim and Pam were just written this way. i admit they aren't as annoying in the much later episodes (still annoying but not as much lol), so i guess the writers just wanted to show them evolve into more decent people as the show went on

I don't think any of the characters in the show were truly "good" people, in the sense that they only did good things. They were all as real as humans as it can get, and real humans, for sure including you and me, have at some point made fun of other people.

Just like Jim and Pam made fun of Dwight, Dwight made fun of Kevin, Kevin made fun of Oscar, Oscar of Angela, Angela of Pam and so on. It was all a huge, realistic circle of people interacting in all spectres, be it in serious ways or in funny ways. Therefore i do not think Jim and Pam were negative per say, sure they were unrealistically romantic 24/7, but other than that I feel like they portrayed a pretty normal aspect of people in their age.

Same goes for Michael. His treatment of Toby was downright cruel, but at the same time Toby took the opportunity to make fun of Michael when he could.

you are right a lot of the characters were pretty rude.

i guess Jim and Pam bug me more

They weren't written that way and you're a lunatic. Why do I get the impression you have an axe to grind, or maybe not even watched the whole series. Using phrases such as I think, i remember and maybe I'm mistaken doesn't help while you are trying to make a point.

i think they were written that way. they got a bit better as the series went on if i remember correctly

They weren't written that way at all, and your wrongheaded comments do make me wonder if you have actually seen the series. Using the the phrase "if I remember correctly" doesn't help your cause either. If you were a fan of the show you would know.

i'm on season 4 and watching the series for my fourth time. people make mistakes so i use phrases like "if I remember correctly" in case i make one. there's a lot of episodes to remember

its my favorite show

Now I know you're lying. If you've seen the series 3 times and are watching it again  and it's your favourite show  you should know what happens and wouldn't make such wrongheaded comments. If you're going to tell such a tissue of whoppers you will have to be more convincing.

i do wonder if you've seen the show. you argue but have no specific details about the show. i doubt you've seen it.

you are either a troll or the most dense viewer ever. jim was written to be a nice guy turning into a jerk. early on he was likeable but had flaws, was a little pushy of his opinion over others, messing with an engaged woman, ect. after the whole co-manager thing he became flat out rude and let the job go to his head. he was intentionally written that way but you seem unable to grasp it or even believe the writers who have said as much.
maybe you should watch it a 4th time as you obviously do not get it. maybe you should reserve your comments until you do,

Pam just gets worse and worse. She is so arrogant for someone who has everything so easy in life yet fails so spectacularly at anything she tries.

Dwight didn't deserve it? He was a complete dick to everyone 24/7 and saw almost everyone else in the office as borderline sub-human. And that's before you consider he screwed Jim out of something like 1/3 of Jim's yearly commission in I believe S1 or S2 which I think most people would despise the person that did that to them forever.

yeah but in the pilot Jim puts Dwight's stapler in jello. i'm guessing he bugged and teased Dwight for years prior

perhaps if Jim treated Dwight better Dwight might be a nicer person

It was pretty obvious Jim's behavior was a direct response to Dwight. Do you honestly think it was more likely Jim pranked Dwight before Dwight was a jerk to everyone? Jim didn't prank anyone else for the most part except dwight and sometimes Michael, both characters that were displayed as being hard to get along with from the start.

Jim pranked andy pretty quick so yes its highly likely he pranked Dwight immediately

1) Finding a person unlikeable is a personal preference.
2) You clearly have seen the show. You already know if other 'unlikeable' characters exist.

This post makes no sense. Unless you just wanted to rant and let out your unhealthily intense frustrations..

Jim pranked Andy pretty soon after moving. Jim can easily come off as an arrogant jerk. He did dump that one girl on the cruise out of the blue like an ass. I liked when he was manager because he screwed up instead of coming out on top. He also took a week off for "jury duty"

However, he is probably the most likable guy. He stops Dwight from getting fired
and gets darryl a job.

Andy made fun of Jim for eating a tuna sandwich and started calling him Tuna. Andy was always a jerk.

Jim only pranked people that were jerks to him.

A number of them have their moments. Angela was a real B most of the time, as was Phyllis.
