Was Paul's father raping her ?

Or was it consentual sex ? That short scene shows some chain tied to her hand...so was Paul's father raping her or was it consentual ?

it seemed to be consensual. but if they were in love enough to have their names tattood on their feet, it would be strange for her to jump in bed with her lover's father. but she was 16 at the time, so who knows what her motivations were.

the chains were bracelets that Jax wore, in an earlier flashback scene you see her locking it up with teenage Paul. It was a fashion/young love thing.
It was entirely consentual. You see after her father walks in on them in the den that she was angry that Paul shut himself off to her, and she was, I guess, worldly in a sense - she had the same dreams of bigger and better things. She liked the idea of the den, where they could go and escape. Paul told her after being caught that they shouldn't be there, and she saw his father as Paul without the things that frustrated her. Thats what the film suggests as why she slept with his father. He was "cool" with what she wanted to do, but Paul wasn't.

100% agree with you on Jax and It was 100% consensual on her part.

It's interesting with Jackie, that what she looked down on Paul about is what he ended up doing. Being worldly, and going onto bigger and better things. She just ended up as mum of 2, with broken string of relationships and in a town and job she doesn't like. Holding onto that one relationship where she was a equal. As a teenager, she was other worldly presence for Paul, but as a adult now she's nervous and small around him. That he just outgrew her, it's heartbreaking in a way. She holds onto these little moments between them as teens but he barely remembers them, and she looks totally broken. She's still upset he never wrote and sent for her even. The moment she finds he's more interested in hanging with Celia then her, she knew it was over.

I think Paul cares deep down for her though.
