Boring, unfunny and very overrated

The movie just doesn't take you anywhere at all. Paris is a city with so many amazing sights, pity the movie is stuck in a tight kitchen the whole time. It gives off the impression it needs major fleshing out, like it's an animation prototype or something. There's just nothing to it. The only character that caught my eye was the food critic, the rest are too realistic. I can't think of a single time I was close to laughing. A pleasant movie to watch, but after seeing what Pixar can do, I was disappointed. It just seems like a film can do well simply because it's made by someone who's produced masterpieces, not because of its actual experience.

I didn't like it much either. Remy's character was my major hurdle.

His human values bugged me and I felt I've seen his character being re-hashed before which wasn't gelling for me with the rest of the story.

reply

I came here to say I just ranked all the Pixar films tonight and ratatouille came out on top

You do realize this is a movie made for children right? Children who, I'm assuming, don't have plot development in mind when watching the movie.

Why do people always take movies so seriously?

reply

No, this is NOT a movie "made for children". The Care Bears movies are made for children. This (and the other Pixar films) are SUITABLE for children to watch, while at the same time not speaking down to them and also bearing a message for older audiences as well. Learn the difference.

Supermodels...spoiled stupid little stick figures mit poofy lips who sink only about zemselves.

Loved the food critic. Liked the dead chef. Disliked everyone else. It's hard for me to enjoy a movie when I just don't care what happens to anyone.

reply

I just re watched it again, and it was even better than the first time!
It started slow, but that was only due to character presentation. But the overall experience was really satisfying

I thought it was moving, brilliant, very funny, warm, with a positive message. The characters were great and believable with great cast. The animation was stunning with beautiful colours and lighting.
It left me all in smiles:)
A true feel- good film!

I love it! Right up there among the other Pixar masterpieces.

The movie was fantastic I knew the movie wasn't gonna be all comedy I have watched it at least 10+ times already and once in theaters and it taught a good lesson the whole movie was to teach a lesson not to be a comedy. It is easily my favorite animated film ever from Pixar. The movie was stunning visual wise for it's time and still is beautiful. And overrated no such thing it's a opinion just gotta deal with it.

The movie was fantastic

I fully agree on that! It's the only movie for which I check its position in the "IMDB top 250" once in a while. Somehow I'm always glad to see that it is still in there.. :-) Always a good excuse to have a beer to celebrate it! :-)

Wise words!

Anyone who doesn't like this movie or thinks it isn't any good shouldn't be allowed to watch movies.

It is an excellent movie.

Too realistic? Are you kidding me? You're complaining about that?!!!

Those are words I would use to describe "Frozen", not this movie. "Ratatouille" is a very good movie, definitely one of Pixar's better movies.

Mr McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry!

reply

Unfunny? It definitely had some really funny moments, I thought. Sometimes I even laughed out loud.

But it's more of a drama though. And why is that a bad thing? Why did you expect it to be a comedy? Because it's animated or what?
Animation isn't a genre, it's just a different way to make a film. You can make almost every genre animated.

reply

Why did you expect it to be a comedy?

Where did I write that I expected it to be a comedy??? When did I say that all animated movies have to be funny? When did I say that all dramas are bad??? I never said any of those things. You are just assuming things yourself and arguing them yourself.

A movie does not have to be a comedy to be funny. "Jaws" had its funny moments as did "The Avengers" as do the "Indiana Jones" and "James Bond" movies yet none of them are comedies. On the other hand there are many comedy movies which aren't the least bit funny. Just pick any Adam Sandler movie! LOL!

You found "Frozen" to be laugh-out-loud funny while I did not find it funny at all. It's merely a matter of personal opinion.

reply

Um, this was as response to the O.P, I know you never said it was unfunny.
I am just continuing the discussion he started. Which looks like a troll-topic, since the OP hasn't returned to defend himself.

I have never seen "Frozen. I might see it later though when it's released on Blu-Ray.
What made you think I have seen it? I never stated so in my post at all:)

reply

Oh I see. Well you replied to my post instead of replying to the OPs so I assumed your post was addressed to me. I guess it was a big misunderstanding. No harm no foul.

No harm intended either:)

This isn't the first time that people think my reply is aimed at them. It usually never is. I just don't know any other way to continue the general topic debate.

Al-tough it must be mentioned must that most people are downright rude when they found out, as if it is something disturbing I did.
So for being polite. Sad to say politeness is something long gone on these boards. Shame, since I always try to be polite. I think it creates a more positive environment:)

I used to make the same mistake . I used to click the "Reply" button on the last post instead of the first post which is the OP's original post.

Very true. Since the advent of message boards, people feel like they can be as rude as they want since they are anonymous. I think it is rather stupid to be rude just to "act tough" on the net. I am very happy that there still are a few people like yourself who make an effort to be polite.
