I HATE this stereotype of French being rude and...
speaking English with that phony ridiculous accent!
My best to sweetmisery678!

Are you French and offended, or just ignorant? I have been to France many times, and there are wonderfully friendly and kind people there, but there are also a significant number of grossly obnoxious, haughty, rude people who think they are better than everyone else - primarily centered in Paris. I was in Paris about 5 years ago for the first time in about 15 years and thought to myself, "Wow, the service people here are so much more polite and friendly than I remember." I suddenly realized why that was when I was at a cafe and Montmarte and gratuitously insulted by the waiter, an insufferable middle-aged Parisian snob, who evidently considered it his role in life to be rude to his "cultural inferiors": the service help who had been so kind and friendly were of African origin.
shareIt was one of the funniest lines in any movie ever. Who cares if it is a stereotype. Just learn to laugh yourself. As an American, I have a lot to laugh about.
(..my experiences in the Netherlands were fantastic. The Dutch are awesome)
A life without stereotypes would be boring. People shouldn't take themselves so seriously.
Now I'm going to play another game of Mike Tyson's Punch Out!
People speaking English in an American movie where the majority of the country will be speaking English with children who might not want to (or have the ability) to read subtitles? UNACCEPTABLE!
There was nothing "rude" about the characters in the movie. The only person who was a jerk was the former head chef (whose name I can't recall).
Has anyone here ever worked in a high-end kitchen? Chefs, almost by their very definition, are extremely rude and domineering. It has nothing to do with being French. This film was very believable in that respect.
