I guess most people don't understand the beauty of horror movies.

It is indeed a superior example of the genre.
It not only has good horror aspect, it actually creates believable and 3 dimensional characters that use engaging and naturalistic dialogue and actually gives quite a bit of pathos as they follow a very real struggle people have as this new mysterious menace appears without being sickly or sentimental.
