which short did ya'll like best?

I personally enjoyed the Tom Waits and Iggy Pop short...Im interested to hear what others enjoyed.

Personally I liked the Tesla Coil scene with Meg and Jack White the best, but it's just my partiality, I guess. ;)

I'd like to know if he finally fixed the coil, though.

The scenes with Cate Blanchett, RZA/GZA-Bill Murray and Alfred Molina and the other guy. Very funny. Oh, and of course Iggy Pop and Tom Waits.

DEFINITELY "Cousins?" with Steve Coogan and Fred Molina.

- A point in every direction is the same as no point at all.

"Those Things'll Kill Ya" and "Cousins?". Alfred Molina was brilliant in his segment.

I loved the segment with Cate Blanchett. I could hardly tell Shelley was Cate she was so freakin' good! God, that woman is an amazing actress! My next favorite scene had to be the one with Alfred Molina and Steve Coogan, absolutely cracked me up! Bill Murray drinking out of the coffee pot was pretty hilarious as well.

I like how all the segments appeal to different demographics. Like I'm sure Stooges and Tom Waits fans loved the Iggy and Tom segment, which I found, objectively, to be the one that worked best on a comical level.

Iggy: You can call me Jim, or Iggy, or Jiggy.
Tom: Alright, whichever you prefer. I could go either way, Jim or Iggy.
Iggy: I-Iggy, you call me Iggy.
Tom: Boy, I'm sorry I'm late Jim.

Brilliant piece of sketching. Also Strange To Meet You was a very comical throwback. I can't believe that's what mainstream comedy used to be like on SNL. What have our comic minds degraded into?

But I must agree I loved Jack Shows Meg His Tesla Coil, just because I'm a huge Stripes fan and knowing Jack White's Mad Scientist persona makes the segment much funnier than for the non Stripes fan. When The Tesla Coil radiates with energy and Jack is sitting there with an evil grin ear to ear with his goggles and rubber gloves I was just loving every minute of it. And his reaction to Cinque's explanation of a GFI is just classic. LOL.

yeah i know what a ground fault interrupter is.

For no reason i really liked the thing with Roberto Benigni. It was totally pointless and made no sense but it was somehow good.

reply

Yeah, I just burst out laughing. "Yeah, I know what a GFI is!" Jack's so funny in this one.

Ironically, this isn't even ironic at all.

My favourites come pretty close but if I absolutely had to make a list..

1. Steve Coogan and Alfred Molina - It's ridiculous how well I could relate to parts of it :D. The awkward silences when you're forced to sit with someone you don't know that well, or do know but have nothing to talk about anyway. You try to come up with something to say and it comes out pretty lame and you know it's lame and you cringe like there's no tomorrow. I literally cringed together with Steve Coogan here and at times the thing cracked me up. Like when Molina is asking Coogan, his newfound cousin, to "love him". Brilliant.

2. Tesla Coil
3. Bill Murray
4. Cate Blanchett

For me it was Cousins, Cousins? and then Jack Shows Meg His Tesla Coil. That suprised me becasue as a white stripes fan I watched it assuming I would only be interested in their part but I was very pleasently suprised.
I love that with this film you can watch it all as one or you can dip in and just watch bits and pieces yet either way it is still entertaining.

My favorite was definitely the Iggy Pop and Tom Waits one, two of my favorite musicians, because it's such an awkward hilarious encounter between the two of them. When they're kind of hesitant over smoking the cigarettes, and the misunderstandings and discomfort, I could totally watch that scene all the time. I saw Tom Waits perform live 2 years ago in Cleveland, and I looked up in the balcony and saw Jim Jarmusch there watching the show. It was awesome, both to catch him there, and of course to see Tom Waits live. I highly recommend it, check him out this summer on the Glitter & Doom tour.

Also, "Cousins" was another excellent uncomfortable encounter, I really enjoyed that one too. The look on Alfred Molina's face when he's explaining their connection, like he's really so happy and excited to have discovered this news, it's priceless.
