Subtlety I doubt many noticed
This movie is a pretty silly cartoon (can't even call it two movies, really), but there are sometimes surprisingly subtle moments that you won't get unless you really pay attention and 'read between the lines'.
I was surprised and almost shocked to realize, although I had seen this before, that Bea actually admitted to having slept with Pai Mei.
THAT is why he told her the Five-Point Palm Heart-Exploding trick.. it's SO subtle, but it's actually obvious, when you realize it.
When Bill is so surprised at what she did to him and asks for a confirmation to his conclusion that Pai Mei really taught her that move, the way she answers, and the way she asks if she's a 'bad person' (feeling shame for cheating and sleeping with such a bstrd, plus, this explains why she was so shocked when Elle told her she had killed the 'miserable old fool'), Bill absolves her of that guilt and shame.
It's very subtle, so I am sure people will be triggered by my claim, but if you watch it without bias, honestly, keeping in mind what I just told you, you sort of have to realize it's the truth.
This is a really brilliant way of telling something without explicitly telling it. This is almost 'show, don't tell', but without even showing it... basically creating the answer in your mind with words that do not say anything, but with gestures and looks that say everything.
You are feel to disagree, of course, and I FULLY expect many, many people to STRONGLY disagree, because it's just SO darn subtle.
But if you really view that bit carefully, you will be rewarded with this insight, I am sure. Just watch it again and tell me I am wrong.
