Halo, or Half-Life?
In terms of story (as we all know half life is much better than Halo for that), which game is better. I have only played halo 1 and 2, but I think the half-life series totally trumps it. What does everyone else think?

shareHalflife without a doubt!

It is hard to compare the two, it is like apples and oranges. But the only reason Halo is more popular is because it is a co-op game that has quality online play. You cannot really play Half Life with friends and stuff. But it is a fact that Half Life is a much more brilliantly crafted game. When I play Half Life it is almost like watching a movie, with all the symbolism, secrets, and building of characters that the game portrays. So Halo may have the popularity, but Half Life is much deeper, and has a much better storyline to it. In my opinion Half Life is the greatest game ever created.
Last movie seen: Glory 10/10
Half-Life Hands down. I've always been confused by Halo fan-boys claiming that it's the best game ever. And when I ask them if they've played Half-Life, most don't even know what it is. Halo definitely has the popularity, and I'm not one for the crowded, over rated game that Halo is. I bought Half-Life 2 the day it came out, and it's so much more then just the single player(which is amazing I might add). Mods and releases from Valve (Orange Box) have kept me mesmerized the last 4 years. To pay homage to a gaming article, Valve's like that kid in school that no matter how much you want to hate them, you can't help but end up loving them in the end. Not 1, not 2, but 3 brand new award winning games(Orange Box) for the price of Halo 2? Sign me up :) I surrender Valve, my heart is yours.
Some Source mods to defiantly check out for your Half-Life Fans
Source Forts (Personal favorite, brings out the fort building 12 year old in all of us :), team based fort building timer, then a CTF battle timer with an array of classes)
Pirates, Vikings, and Knights II (I saw someone say Halo was for being light hearted and screwing around. Well, they have yet to play PVKII. 3 Popular warrior factions merged in a 3 way death match style, and a planned 5 classes for each faction. although only 2 are released at the moment.)
Zombie Master (Think D&D's for half life. One person is the zombie master while the other players try to fight back the horde of zombies with rag tag weapons among booby traps, explosions, flickering lights, and other obstacles at the disposal of the Zombie Master.)
PC Gamer also gave the award of "Best Game Of All Time" to Half-Life. And it won about 50 game of the year awards. I love the half-life series. Not to say that I don't like some Halo multiplayer from time to time...
The Video Game Reviewer Ben Croshaw really hits the nail on the head with both Halo and Half-Life, since both do have their faults.
Here's his review to Halo 3:

Here's his review to the Orange Box (no single review for HL i'm afraid):

Half-Life all the way... yeah halos cool but Half-Life is so much more in depth with its characters and story lines. And its alot more interactive...given that u cant drive any of the combine vehicles which is kinda lame..but still half life all the way
shareHalf life completely destroys Halo. They don't even deserve to be compared. Halo is overrated garbage. Especially Halo 3. I thought Halo 1 was decent, halo 2 was good story wise, but halo 3 totally butchered whatever credibility the story had and the multiplayer is almost a carbon copy of halo 2, with some stupid changes.
shareHalo has great fun with the vehicles, being stupid, and alien weapons. It's fun but short.
Half-Life series are far more creative such as the scripted sequences and using the antlions to fight with you.
I prefer Half-Life to the Halo series overall, but I think the first Halo was a stellar singleplayer and co-op experience that can live up to the Half-Lifes, Halo 2 and 3 were mainly about multiplayer which I don't care about
Me being an RPG player, I prefer Half-Life as it is much more intriguing. While Halo is a solid FPS
Halo sucks. Half-Life 1&2 rules.
shareHalo series in every category. The characters, story, vehicles, A.I., first-person shooting gameplay, setting, art design, music, and every other facet of each game is leaps and bounds above Half-life.
The harder conflict would be between the Halo series vs. BioShock series.
