A mess
Here are some of the notes I jotted down while watching:
--------
Only a decade or so after his high school crush and close confidante leaves town, he doesn't recognize her at all, even when he's sitting close up to her at a bar? Seriously? Based on the way males and females mature and develop, he should look more different by this point than she does, but she's the one who recognizes him rather than vice versa.
An hour in, this detective mystery plot seems kind of cockamamie, but I will reserve judgement to see how it all plays out. [UPDATE: Turned out to be even more cockamamie by the end.]
Very strange to have a sort of romantic comedy bickering scene lead to RDJ getting his finger literally cut off.
When did he give her a gun?
And the dog ate his finger?!? JFC, what am I watching here? Suddenly we're in "Something About Mary" territory.
Shane Black needs to stop sniffing his own farts and getting high on his own supply.
