The most unrealistic?

What do you think are the top 5 most unrealistic things/storylines that happened throughout the series?

Personally, I think it has to be Dan getting out of jail after being in for only 4 or 5 years; I mean c'mon, the guy murdered someone, it made absolutely no sense for him to be "up for parole" 4 years into his term.

What do you think? What are some of the most unrealistic storylines in your view?

A bunch has already been taken.

High school basketball being treated like college ball.

A point shaver makes it to the NBA.

Dan killing Keith and getting away with for so long. Jimmy died before Keith. Dan's fingerprints were on the gun.

The entire school shooting episode.

Mouth's female admirers.

Larry not knowing about Nathan & Peyton's terrible relationship.

Pete Wentz from FOB.

Naley's second wedding.

Keith's parents missing his wedding and funeral.

Hayley's invisible siblings missing their mothers funeral and no family pictures.

I'll stop here.

Clark's destiny = Superman, LL &LL.

Actually in some US cities and States it is, it's like how big High school Football is in Texas

A point shaver makes it to the NBA.

People who have done a lot worse have made it, besides he had to fight his way back, through a low division college into a Good college before he even got a chance again.

Dan killing Keith and getting away with for so long. Jimmy died before Keith. Dan's fingerprints were on the gun.

Yeah a little unrealistic, I'm just sure they probably didn't investigate a lot seeing as it looked to be an open and closed case.

The entire school shooting episode.

With this being a prevelant issue in the US, I think they did a pretty good job, sure there are a few things that could have been improved on, but overall it was well done

Larry not knowing about Nathan & Peyton's terrible relationship.

Larry wasn't around much, but also in High school did you parents know everything about you and what was going on in your life, probably not.

Keith's parents missing his wedding and funeral.

I can kind of understand his wedding as it was pretty quick and who knows where his parents were, but the funeral, yeah I agree that was ridiculous, maybe they were there, just not shown

Hayley's invisible siblings missing their mothers funeral and no family pictures.

I think they retconned how big her family was, when they introduced Quinn and Taylor, it just seems like they decided to say Haley, Quinn and Taylor were the only kids

Girl, I'm not going to even read your tired response. I said what I said and I stand by it. You don't even know what I'm referring to when I mentioned HSBB on this show.

Clark's destiny = Superman, LL &LL.

reply

**Double checks self, nope not a girl***

And yes I do know what your referring to and I explained why your wrong

reply

Just curious how you thought they portrayed the Ravens like college basketball?

reply

A high school coach telling his player to break an opponent's wrist (Quentin's)

reply

1. Clay getting a stalker who looks eerily similar to his late wife.
2. Clay suppressing memories of his son. (Seriously, Robert Buckley was a decent actor and Clay was a likeable character - but he by far got the worst storylines.)
3. Dan getting paroled four years after committing murder.
4. Everyone in Tree Hill ends up fabulously rich or famous. (We got an NBA star, a best-selling novelist, a major fashion designer, a singer (who started out as a teacher!), a film director, two talk show hosts, etc.)
5. Not one but FOUR crazy stalkers in Tree Hill (Psycho Derek, Nanny Carrie, Katie, and Xavier.)

But hey, the show was never attempting to be a gritty, documentary-esque look at teenage life in a Southeastern town. It just always wanted to be a drama, and while it did get pretty outlandish in its later years, it always managed to be entertaining and it always got me to care about its characters.

brooke's clothing line being so successful was ridiculous. actually all of them having so much success was a bit stupid.

reply

Getting rid of Lucas and Peyton. The show was nothing without them and got so silly.

People being able to enter anyone's house at will.

Being able to visit people in prison at any time.

Constant kissing, especially in seasons 8&9, which were dire.

Dan saves Jamie from Carrie, Lucas and Nathan initiate a fist fight with Dan.
Dan saves Jamie, Hailey and Deb, everyone treats him like more dirt.
Dan saves Nathan, Nathan calls him "Dad" and Dan becomes universally loved and praised by everyone.

Besides that, Dan getting a light sentence for murder.

Xavier not getting charged for Quentin's murder. Maybe the Cop got his finger prints all over the wallet and destroyed the whole case lol.

How pretty much every Ravens game ends with a winning shot right at the buzzer.

reply

I think 3 or 4 of them finish the same way in the last few seconds. Opposition team up by 2-3 points with 8 seconds, inbound in the backcourt, player passes to a teammate (instead of holding the ball for an intentional foul) and suddenly a Ravens player gets to the ball first and catches it. Calls a timeout and scores a 3 pointer or scores on a 4 point play. Yeah, that doesn't happen as often as the show has us believe.

Not to mention, Bear Creek Warriors seem to be the only Basketball team Tree Hill plays most season. They even have the only cheerleading squad, besides Tree Hill's.

reply

Yeah, they do mention Bear Creek a lot.

I just re started this series. 2 out of the first 3 games shown end this way. The state championship ends that way. And the game at that tournament where Nathan makes the free throw where he looks away. That's 4 just off the top of my head haha.

reply

Uh let's face it, after Season 1 very little on this show was realistic.

Sadly, and I do mean sadly, Dan getting out of jail that early isn't unrealistic. It happens all the time.

I agree with green, yes some killers can get out that early. It depends on what they were charged with. 1st degree murder, 2 degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, manslaughter. In fact this weekend, I believe on 48 hours a woman was convicted of 1st degree murder and received a 2 year sentence.

reply

There are killers in the US that are released after five years. Once a racist white guy killed a black man, kept his body hidden for 15 years, before the truth finally came out. The bastard was arrested, tired, given only 12 years and was out in six. He didn't even get the amount of years he had left the victim's family gripped in the nightmare of not knowing where their loved one was, if he was dead or alive.

And we're getting to the point that if you are rich and white - and yes, I am white - sex crimes get you little more than being sent to your room. Guy rapes a woman. Is given six months. Out in three. The judge felt sorry for him.

reply

I would think that the fact that he turned himself in (especially after the case was closed) made a difference too.
