I watched this movie this weekend after not seeing it since watching it in the movies.
The movie is the 3rd best in the series. It is better than Temple of Doom but cannot match the Nazis.
I never liked ToD, aside from the people eating monkey brains and the heart being pulled from the dude's chest.
shareIt's always interesting to see how divisive people still are about Temple of Doom but it's easily my favorite of the bunch and appreciate how it did its own thing in a unique setting & didn't try to be a copy of Raiders. Crusade is enjoyable enough but I take major points off for how derivative it is of Raiders. I always got the films confused as a kid. I didn't find Skull to be completely terrible but not a whole lot positive to say about it either.

shareI agree. TOD was the goofiest out of all the films. Kate Capshaw as willie was annoying as hell. Kotcs was way better.

Lots of the complaints about kotcs though are just plain based on preference or just plain stupidity. People didn't like the Alien Aspect of it, people think Shia Lebeuf is an asshole in real(which he is but I'm not hating on it because he's in it), and the stupidest reason of all..... implausible stunts. Nothing in kotcs was anymore implausible than this film. In fact I think the mine cart jumping over a missing piece of track and landing perfectly on another piece of track is no more plausible than a refrigerator flying into the desert after an explosion or a car driving past a plane in a tunnel than the plane blows up and a character says "can't get closer than that" than one second later a bomb drops and they drive into the bomb hole....
shareI think its best to consider them when they first came out. If you saw Temple of Doom in the mid 80s then chances are you were wowed because that type of thrill ride of a movie just didn't exist back then. It was goofy but it was meant to be fun. Its not exactly fair that Crystal Skull came out decades later when the formula had already been done to death but the reality is it followed a formula whereas Temple of Doom helped to create one.
shareA mine cart flying 10-15 metres over a missing piece of track is much more plausible than Indy surviving a nuclear bomb blast while being hurled who knows how far inside a fridge. Also, Shia being a real life douche bag wasn´t why he was criticized, he was much less of a douche bag 12 years ago, it was because his character sucked. Mutt swinging on vines like Tarzan catching up to moving vehicles was super dumb too.
